I was talking about gender reassignment and hatchets in ss13, but I noticed it's gone.

The only indication I can see as to why it was removed was that the admins considered Gender Reassignment to be rape, or at least to be unwanted ERP.

I don't really care about this surgery but hey: This is a surgery that was used once every 6 months, and every fucking time it was used it generated a huge dramafest regardless of what an admin ruled. And honestly it barely made a difference being removed.

There's a lot of people on /tg/ who have a "it's not rule breaking so you have to be okay with me doing [X]", and if it makes some people uncomfortable and they complain, it benefits them and the admins by removing it - they don't feel uncomfortable (for whatever reason) and we don't have to listen to the ahelps complaining.

It's not about being a "political thing", it's just "admins don't want to deal with that shit and it does nothing anyways so who cares about its removal". I agree that ahelping it is retarded, but I don't care about its removal when there's nothing positive that comes out of it anyways

The issue here is not with the admins having a moral issue with the genderswap. The issue comes when people ahelp because they are mad they got their genitals mutilated with a hatchet, and the fact that it is a sexual organ makes it more difficult to place in terms of proper escalation when nonantags are involved, and lots of people have very strong opinions on the issue.

At the end of the day it caused more problems than it ever contributed fun, and while i would be inclined to tell people who have an issue with the surgery being done to them to fuck off and deal with it IC this will not stop the volume of autistic screeching that will inevitably result.

For this reason alone it will probably never come back

The only justification this feature had for existing was the fact it existed as a option.

Space Station 13 is a game defined by the things you can do that no other game lets you. More so this is known for the little things.

I'm not claiming to be for or against this, but I fully understand why many people would be very against its removal as removing it may be seen as akin to violating one of the things that draws people to SS13, that extra level of complexity and interactivity.
