Deadlock
Six versus six MOBA third person shooter with hero shooter elements, AKA like every other major gaming trend from the past twenty years thrown into a blender.
I'll admit, not the best sell, but it's definitely one of the best games I've played in recent memory. It manages to blend such disparate elements together into a surprisingly cohesive final product, and is incredibly satisfying when you finally get a solid grasp on the mechanics. Be warned, though, it's definitely a lot more MOBA than it is hero shooter, and as such it's definitely not geared for a low barrier of entry. If you've no previous MOBA experience, you're likely to find yourself completely lost for your first couple of games. Still though, I highly recommend giving it a shot.

Re: Deadlock
i've played all of the MOBAs and this one is definitely the best one thus far. i liked the denying mechanics but the last time i played the game, jungle creeps didn't spawn until 7 minutes into the game, and you didn't start with any items, so the early laning phase for heroes like Warden (which is who i play) is just absolutely atrocious. heroes who rely on items to make use of their abilities just get dusted by heroes like haze or pocket, who have very good laning abilities innately
im gay (and also play the moth “bugger”)

Re: Deadlock
yeah laning phase can be ROUGH (i play pocket mainly and everytime im matched versus a vindicta or grey talon i want to cry) but as a toplane main in league i'm pretty good at losing gracefully, get vitality items and ammo scav and try to scale into the midgame.iwishforducks wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 4:31 am i've played all of the MOBAs and this one is definitely the best one thus far. i liked the denying mechanics but the last time i played the game, jungle creeps didn't spawn until 7 minutes into the game, and you didn't start with any items, so the early laning phase for heroes like Warden (which is who i play) is just absolutely atrocious. heroes who rely on items to make use of their abilities just get dusted by heroes like haze or pocket, who have very good laning abilities innately
denying is a really really fun mechanic im also awful at it because im not an aimlabs warrior so against heroes with automatic guns i get constantly fucked unless i melee secure lol

Re: Deadlock
I like the aesthetic of the game and I think it'll be neat, but games with depth like this are very hard for me to get into nowadays. It feels a lot like Dota where you have to memorize what every character can do or you run into situations where you just eat shit without knowing what killed you, and that just ends up making me angry.
I don't feel like you can interact with games like this casually unless you just like getting your shit kicked in constantly, so I'll probably pass. I have enough games on my plate as it is.

Re: Deadlock
I like viscous, wraith, and paradox.
Warden makes me very upset when I'm not playing viscous, though.
Also my buddy on ivy airlifted me over an enemy's wall into their base while playing as viscous, where I proceeded to turn into a ball of goo and knock everyone around. It was funny.

If you give someone a year to stop shitting on the carpet and they keep doing it but get slightly closer to the bathroom every time and sometimes they get to the toilet before it happens, at what point does it become acceptable to just ask them to go shit in someone else's house?

I said this and now I've played like four hours in the last two days, helpVekter wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 1:58 pm I like the aesthetic of the game and I think it'll be neat, but games with depth like this are very hard for me to get into nowadays. Don't get hit 4Head
Also something I struggled with - just HAVING an item of one of the three stats improves your stats up to a cap, so you should be spending a lot early on. You can sell stuff later when prices are a lot less of a concern. If you're dying a lot, just buy Vitality items.

Re: Deadlock
rookie numbers
yeah same, when the leaks came out it looked SOOOO overdone and bland, another shitty hero shooter to add to the pile, but the core gameplay is genuinely inspired. it's scratching an itch i haven't been able to satisfy since league's first run of Arena, which is a super high bar. also, even though most of the game's artwork is WIP, i'm already blown away by how well the flavor and aesthetics of the game are executed! honestly, i'm so glad that valve pivoted away from the cyberpunk sci-fi aesthetic they were planning deadlock to be.Vindicta, Infernus, McGinnis. Sometimes Ivy if I'm feeling like spicing things up. When the leaks first came out I thought it was going to suck, but I'm blown away at how much I'm enjoying it so far.

Re: Deadlock
I've been struggling so hard to teach this to my friend without being condescending. He's never played a MOBA before (neither had I but I'm way more of a nerd than him and already knew the basics of the genre). I can tell he's improving, but sometimes I want to just set up an hour long slideshow presentation and give him a full rundown on the game and mindset you need.this game is a MOBA first and a shooter second
