There's supposed to have been a patch that adds more content and fixes content not being very good. We'll see.

It looks like a fucking N64 game.

Pretty much sums it up. Fly around, shoot things with magic laser. Talk to space assholes and bribe them for blueprints. Shoot the locals every once in awhile.

This is not a game worth $60.

>Get resources on planet 1
>have to constantly fill suit with resources to stay alive
>ship needs different resources for fuel even just to take off and move around on a planet
>creatures can only be fed or killed, look like shitty clay
>ship controls suck, dog fights suck
>space isn't the empty void it is, lools like a fucking fish tank
>NPC's are static, no personality
>go to slightly different planet 1000 times doing the same thing over and over

If it were $30 it'd be acceptable as an early access game. As a full priced game, it's not. It's a really mediocre game.

To sum it up, it's like an ocean with the depth of a puddle.

I'll probably pick it up when it goes on massive sale and the devs make the gameplay more engaging with some updates.

No shit, it's said Singleplayer on the steam page for months.

Maybe I have not been following this game closely enough, but I'm confused as to why people thought this 10 man indie team was somehow going to create the game with the most content ever.

The devs have flat out refused to say "no it won't have multiplayer", instead confirming it and hinting at it, saying it will have some things. It actually doesn't. Multiple pairs of people on digg now proving that on stream.

This is from an interview on the 8th this month.
WILL I MEET OTHER PLAYERS?

The answer to this question is similar to the one above. Yes, you may meet other players on your No Man's Sky journey, but then again, you may not. It totally depends on what you do.

But what is interesting is that even if you do bump into another player, you might not even notice.

Unlike other multiplayer games, ships belonging to real-world players won't be tagged with their name or any other indicator – a bit like Journey.

However, developer Hello Games has revealed that other players will look different from anything else in the game – especially if you spot them walking on a planet.

"You effectively see their suit, actually," said Murray. "So you won't know what's inside. It still won't answer for people whether you are an alien or whether you are a human or what you look like."

jokes aside I upvoted you. tbh about this game I've never been excited for it or into anything about it really. When it was announced I just brushed it off "yeah like that'll happen anytime soon pfft" I can tell from watching some utubers I'm subbed to that I wouldn't like it even if my pet rock could run this game. I think I can enjoy watching their respective series but it doesn't look like something I'll ever get into myself

Also, I don't get where the hype train got that the game was going to be MP like Elite (which by the way has problems with instancing as well) beyond that you're interacting with the same online database as everyone else.

Re: No Man's Sky

Not sure why people have to keep spelling this out:

This wasn't entirely the fault of the hype train

The developers confirmed at different points in time that the game would have multiplayer and co-op features. They did that rather proudly and in an upfront manner in interviews.

Over time they quietly recanted it, they posted "singleplayer" on the box.

They did not make an official announcement via their website or social media outlets that, "Hey we fucked up and this stuff we confirmed before is actually not in the game whoops sorry." They did not take advantage of Sony's gigantic press machine to tell the people they had previously told "You can do this" that "You can't actually do that".

The hype machine lapped it up and parrot'ed it but the fact is they lied about it in the first place.

They are trying to hint that it will be something they can just crowbar into the game later. So not only do you have this $60 product that is blatantly missing significant things that were promised before, but now you have a $60 product that also is admittedly unfinished but again no posting of "Early Access" or any of that shit was made.

The entire ad campaign was just then being as glib as possible, saying incredibly vague things they knew they could go back in with the bullshit excuse "well we never specifically said this would be in there." the whole idea was to generate this massive overhype by letting people just imagine what they thought would be amazing based on some vague promises and a neat premise.
They knew full well what they were doing. I don't have any sympathy for then and neither should anyone else.

Re: No Man's Sky

Posted: Wed Aug 10, 2016 10:44 pm
by Timbrewolf
There must've been a point in time where they knew multiplayer wasn't going to make it in, couldn't be done

And they had a decision to either tell everyone "Whoops oh shit we goofed but hey here's the rest of the game"

or

Fucking.Damage.Control. Dodge that question, be vague. Fuck your consumers over to get more initial units.

And they picked the money. So fuck them forever.

I'm sure I remember last year devs were saying it was going to be an online game and you could meet up with people however unlikely that was.

Then a few months ago there was a big boo hoo because devs said there actually wouldn't be a proper multiplayer at launch, maybe itd be something added later.

And now you've got tards raging because the devs didn't yell loud enough over the tard ramblings that were based on old hype,

Sony was the one behind all the bullshit dude. They couldn't say anything without running it by Sony first.

Granted, they went along with it and skirted around the restrictions with their vague bullshit so it's on both Hello Games and Sony for being shit.

And they weren't yelling loud enough on purpose. They said it quietly enough that they can cite it later on and claim not to be scumbag liars, whole having no one hear them so everyone could stay on the hype train.
