Does it supposedly run the same on both platforms?
i cant find the image now but the other day there was a side by side comparison of the game on wii u and on switch and the switch version does look better

i guess if youre planning on getting a switch then get it for switch but if youre not getting a switch either way than just go for wii u version

Pretty much this, don't buy a new console just for a game unless you've got phat dolla to burn.

Did you get much for the Wii U to play on it, Kor?
Mario Kart 8

Smash

Mario 3d World

Wind Waker HD (never played the original)

~3 hours of Pikmin 2

Earthbound on the eshop

So not really many games no, I think I used it for netflix more than anything else. The few games I did play were fun though, there isn't really an alternative as far as local multiplayer goes.

Can the Wii u run no more heroes?

If it can you should get it. It's pretty baller

>new mario that goes back to sandbox worlds

give me a new metroid that doesn't reduce samus to a crybaby, and a new f-zero, and I'll have no choice but to get this console

speaking of f-zero, in that final montage where they rapid fired footage of a lot of new games there were a few snippets that look kinda like F-Zero, but not quite

But Rico samus is a girl which means she has to be whiney mopey and have a lot of feelings and if you don't like it you are SEXIST PIG

May as well wait and buy a switch later, possibly in a bundle, if I can play the only launch game on the Wii U anyway

I think it can play Wii games yeah. No More Heroes 2 is 65 dollars on amazon somehow, fucking nintendo games never go down in price.

Also that Mario Game has Sonic 06 written all over it holy shit

Putting your oddly proportioned videogame mascot into a regular modern world populated by normal people great idea never fails

To their credit though the hardware is region free. It's about fucking time Nintendo got on that bandwagon.
Now you wont have to wait an actual decade to play the next Fatal Frame game.

Reminds me of Sonic Adventure yeah. Looks odd. Hat gimmick also looks kind of dumb.

There has literally never been a bad 3D Mario though so it will probably still be fun.

Kor wrote:selling games to children
And that's why I'm wary of them in a nutshell.
Any experience you have on their systems will almost always be tailored for and cleaned up to appeal to an audience of tweens and younger.

I don't want a gritty, hardcore Mario game for hardcore gamers like myself. Mario is fine just the way it is. That that never changes is fine. Don't mature that up.

But defending them for removing random elements because of m-muh children? No thanks.
That it's 2017 and you can't see a guy drink a beer or smoke a cigarette in a videogame isn't because of the ESRB. It's because of Nintendo's adherence to their own idea of "family values" stateside.

I sold enough copies of Grand Theft Auto and CoD to parents buying them for their kids to know that nobody gives a shit about the ratings on the box when it comes to sales. Nobody is going to balk and not buy the next Smash Brothers game for their screaming kids because it's rated T for teen or whatever.

I'm still very skeptical as to how the hardware is going to work in practice, especially where the portable aspects are concerned. A handheld device simply isn't going to provide both graphical fidelity and a smooth framerate with a reasonable battery life. You end up having to sacrifice one of those three (the 3DS sacrifices graphics, for example). My biggest concern is that this is going to impact how the games look and play when the system is being used as a console with the dock.

With Nintendo shit like this happens

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatal_Fra ... ar_Eclipse

Where I ended up having to pirate this for my jailbroken Wii and patching the iso with a fan translation just to finally get to play it in a language I can comprehend because Nintendo doesn't want their American brand to be associated with this kind of content or something?

How the fuck do you defend that?

When they make the call to not even give you the option to play the game in your country because they can't be seen localizing it...that's cool with you?

They take weird risks and I like that. Their hardware is always something fucking wacky and that's good.

They gave us the zapper, the track and field pad, they made motion controls fun even if they didn't always work right.
They make amazing portable platforms. They put a working 3D screen in that shit. Even if their stuff is gimmicky it's good that somebody is experimenting.

This looks fun as fuck. Probably embarrassing to be seen playing but so what

But when they apply their weird morality to MY entertainment I get out.
Twelve year olds do not make up the largest portion of your market share.
Stop treating your entire audience like kids.

It just seems really schizophrenic when they have released great games like Mad World, No More Heroes, Bayonetta 2, etc. as platform exclusives.

Obviously they are aware that not-kids are buying the system and enjoying it, but they continue to tailor the overall experience away from that audience.

I get them maintaining that kind of position when it comes to their own franchises, but third party developers aren't going to want to develop for their system if they're arbitrarily restricted in the type of content that they can make
