!.39 came out a few days ago. New brit planes.

The new spitfires fly like dreams. The new mossy has a 57mm cannon on it, something the british faction sorely needed. Some new jets for the yanks, krauts and japs. USSR gets a gold jet, so noob faggots can jump right in and give the vets easy kills.

I can't wait to try out the Twin Mustang.

The major problem with Brits I've always found is that Lancaster is a fragile piece of shit in Arcade, but has amazing bombload (I think only Yer-2 tops it).

Their fighters though fly like a dream, hell even the British Mustang Ia feels a bit better than the NA counterpart. The new Mosquito is nice but Vickers' Tempest with 47mms is also pretty good.

The sad part is that 1.39 is pretty much Russian Bias the update with the release of Golden Jet and Golden USSR spit. Now they can have golden version of every good plane from any other nation which is BS. Limited offer or not.

My only problem with the update yeah. Though to be honest, those that spend out on gold planes are usually nubs - easy pickings. I got the Mustang Ia, it's nice for the cannons. My wingman has the two boomerangs which are boss at their rank. I play fighter only so I can't comment on the bombers.

I am having a huge ass problem in t2 matches... Its like my wings are made out of glass or some shit... One hit and they are gone and when I try to shoot at some one with the same rank it become total bull shit.

I used to like WT, until I realized that, past Tier 2, it's a paper plane fight. Everyone has cannons, but nobody can actually soak cannonfire. Famously durable fighters like the F6F or the P-47 come apart just as fast at 109s or infamously fragile Zeros when they fall under my Spitfire's 20mm. Especially in Tier III and beyond, the Americans are held back by their lack of cannons - Still mounting 6x or 8x .50cal when everybody is throwing some kind of HE around.

I think this only applies to Arcade mode. In RB and above it seems not to be that much of a problem. In arcade mode piloting a fucking bomber is a death wish. In RB my B17 shot down 2 attacking planes (Fw 190 and Bf109) and managed to crash land on the airport with 3 engines out, no gear and half of the steering gone. In AB my B-17 gets shot down in 5 seconds by a jerk with 4x20mm golden plane.

Yeah, I do play only arcade. Mostly because I am casul babby who doesn't have a joystick, and Historical Battle's mouse joystick is complete shit.

Eh? From my experience with the B-17 as a target - they are nightmares to take down. Literal cannon and bullet sponges. I've spent the entire match once chasing just one of them, wrecking it left and right and it was still flying with parts missing so much it literally shouldn't be flying. They have great defenses, that and the B-25, best armed bombers in the game - and i'm reluctant to go against both. Even if you make the blindspot attack angle you get wasted on the pass.

British planes are notoriously weak, any amount of damage is going to end badly for you. Never go head on, and better off attacking in pairs - one to bait and draw fire one to attack. Russians are the most heavily armoured, followed by the Krauts with the yanks trailing in behind. Japs and Brits have the weakest planes, structurally. If you are complaining about how well armed some are, know that the Jap planes have it way worse. Sure they can fly circles round almost anything, but they are weak armed.

B-17 is a roulette. If you hit it in the right spot with cannons, it's easy to take down. If you have MGs? Tough luck. B-25 is a pissy little strafer and a great bomber hunter(!) against Jap, Brit and German bombers

I've never had problem with Brit planes except the bombers. Spit can easily outmanoeuvre most enemies so the fire is not as bad for me as maybe for the others. Typhoon has some manoeuvring problems but it can just zoom away from most enemies. Beaufighters used to be great, but now they're weak bomber hunters. Gladiators and Hurricanes are amazing for their tier and generally anything Golden on Brit path is great. Except Wirraway. I personally love the Mustang Ia premium, Tempest with Vickers cannons, Mosquito and higher-tier Spits. But yeah the problem is engaging the enemy in a manoeuvre combat instead of charging it head on.

Japs on the other part have very slow but nimbler fighters that are made out of rice paper folded 10^11 times and can catch on fire easily. Also Jap ammo count is ridiculously low. Despite Zero's 20mm cannons and Ki-61 really good .50s, the rice crispies have amazingly bad survivability on all difficulties. Hell their bombers are death traps even though their bombload is amazing (early access to 800kg bombs!), and their heavy fighters even though have 57mm cannons and are nimble, are ridiculously easy to set on fire

Fun Fact: The least covered-in-guns angle on the B-17 is 12 o'clock. The distinguishing feature of the B-17G, the chin turret, was directly in response to the Luftwaffe figuring that out.

i mean sure to fight well you have to know what you are doing but that's not exactly a disadvantage it means the game has depth or something

It's a downside only for someone very elitist and close minded. Yeah, I played Il2 1946 on keyboard back in the day, but games weren't quick. Even on quite popular server I have played it was mostly climbing and looking for targets by yourself.

I'm more of a tank guy anyway. Yes, I heard Il2 supposedly has tank now.
