CDDA in 3D

I found this jewel from 2013

It uses a visualizer to render acsii in different heights based on the type of charcter (walls/doors/engines/tunnels/ect)
It wouldn't be very difficult to apply this to tile sets, you'd just have to make (very simple) textures for most of the common items
I'm not sure how it'd look but it might extend the fanbase for a very exceptional game

I'm not entirely sure how texture wrapping works in a visualizer like this but even i could put together some hastily made 32x32 textures for simple things like grass, bushes, walls, cars, ect. (hell it'd be ok if the blocks we're just one color)
Camera controls would be important too, obviously your going to want a different view distance from when your in a car to when your in the sewers.
