This should help. Maybe. The fun thing with confusion scrolls is it makes the enemy attack in a random direction, and so they can still hit you.


I actually managed to kill it. Enemies (and players!) take a lot more damage with their backs turned.

I originally planned to do BLORBLE for the next seed, but I think I'm going to try one of the daily campaigns. They're basically gimmick/challenge runs that rotate daily, they include things like having the power levels of all enemies and equipment increased, having enemies only drop money, having unique NPCs spawn in Victor's castle, etc.

Act 3 will start either tonight or tomorrow. Classes just started and I have the worst conceivable schedule in the history of anyone's education

--ACT 3: TEATIME IN THE FALLEN EMPIRE--
In this act, we're changing things up again with a ~~Campaign Dimension~~. These are seeds that rotate daily and offer slightly different game conditions. Here's the one we're tackling:

In addition, I'm upping the difficulty to Grueling Campaign, OWH's hard mode.

Without further ado, let's begin our quest!!

Today marks our first day as a royal maid in King Victor's castle. I've been waiting my entire life for this day to come. Nothing could possibly ruin it!!

Well, a blade is...sort of like a broom right? I guess I've got no other choice here.

An insane person said something about interdimensional storage. Apparently someone by the name of Sarsadangl left me this. Sounds like a stupid name for a dumb asshole.

It is a nice jacket though.

Putting the capital of an entire nation inside a volcano seems really ill-advised to me, but I guess that's why Victor's king and I'm the maid.

There's a crypt deeper in the volcano, full of re-animated corpses and, worse than that, lizardmen.

~~Tutorial~~
Swordmasters are the quintessential "fighter" class of One Way Heroics. They boast incredible offensive power and all-around decent stats, but they're lacking in defensive options and utility. Their innate class ability gives them a whopping +30% chance to combo attacks, and their class ability berserk gives them unrivaled attack power for a short time. The downside of going berserk is that there's also a short exhaustion period where your max health is significantly reduced.

We found a gem lying around on the ground. Maybe that asshole king dropped it when he hightailed it out of here. At any rate, it sells for a ton.


A harpy drops a whetstone. They raise a weapon's attack but make it break more easily. I sharpen up our short sword. The durability loss isn't a huge issue since we'll most likely be replacing it in the short future anyway.



Along the path, we meet the ghost of another traveler! One Way Heroics actually has an online component to it, and as you might have noticed, other players in the same dimension will be displayed in the top left corner of the screen. Players will leave a ghost behind where they die, which will award some exp and one of their items.


This one left us its lunch. Haunted bento!


Oh fuck. Oh shit. Oh fuck.


Now is a good time to show off an ability I have not had to use thus far in the game: Awakenings.

Naturally, they're very strong. It's basically a get out of jail free card. I burn one to kill these monsters and then bash the wall down.

Like a dumbass, I walked right into a flame attack.


This better work.


He still managed to hit me while confused. Fuck!!!!


In any case, we escape in one piece. A bunch of healing herbs and another pretty jewel got burnt up by the force flame, though.


Yeah this doesn't look like an altar to me. I'm gonna steer clear.

Golems are slow as shit, so I don't have too tough a time outrunning it. It aggros onto a Jade Forest Hunter. Maybe he can take it out?


He died and the golem leveled up. It's pretty low on HP though. Maybe...

We go berserk and finish it off, barely. That HP regen is insane.


It drops a bunch of mostly useless crap.


More volcanos and more demon lords. We're pretty fast, so outrunning this guy isn't that tough.



I can run pretty far, though

Grand Blade detected. We are now One Punch Maid. One Slash Maid?


Outside the volcano, we're accosted by this gentleman once more. If this was Normal, I feel like I could probably end it right here. The Demon Lord has more health and a stronger barrier on hard though, so for now I'll keep running.


At this point, between the levels from the golem and the grand blade, I feel like whatever the game throws at me still probably won't be too big an issue. Our vitality is kinda shitty so we're still taking noticeable damage if fights last, but berserk mostly negates this.

IMPS! Fuck imps. They throw rocks at you, which does a pretty large amount of damage. They're really annoying and I hate them.


I was actually kind of worried for a moment, but a stonewall scroll let me build some convenient cover, forcing the imp to fight like a man instead of whipping fucking stones at me.
Hilariously, the king imp only gave one level. Fuck you, imps.

I found a treasure map and it leads us to lots and lots of treasure. And a goat.


Lots of dungeons to clear out in this zone. Even Phantom Knights aren't too much trouble for our maid.


The demon lord is almost back and I'm out here bleeding to death because there's like 30 red star crows up my ass.


Let's try to put a dent in this asshole's barrier.



Welp the barrier is still too strong and we get fatigued from going berserk.


I live, but it was a close one.


Our grand blade shattered on a crow. Guess it's back to this piece of shit, but it's not gonna last too long either.


Welcome to the beach! Coasts kind of suck for classes that don't naturally get points in swimming, because water takes 5 turns to traverse and drains ST without it!


The sea is also home to gelatin slimes, which take no damage and are generally little shits.


Okay this is actually looking really bad. Might be time for another awakening.

The awakening lets me take care of the imp, but there's still these assholes and I really don't want to burn another.


I ditched my short sword for a bow, for the time being. It's doing a fair number on these shithead imps, and it seems to have an echantment that lets it confuse occasionally.

I hope people don't mind me save scumming a bit. This run is actually pretty challenging, the fast darkness makes things harder than I expected and my sword shattering kinda fucked me. If people would rather me just play like a traditional roguelike and avoid using saves let me know and I'll just let deaths be final.

PART ?: USE THE FORCE
thank god a new star wars film just came out or that would be a fucking awful title

In this episode we fuck with magic

Force Users have really bad combat stats and survivability but make up for it in the ability to use the Force, a magical power that excels at turning things into red mist. They begin with really bad equipment and no good means of fighting without magic but make up for it by being able to one-shot almost any early game enemy with their first spell.

For this build I'm just maxing out our early game Will since it boosts the effectiveness of force spells.



Against my better judgment I'll be playing on Grueling Campaign. Hopefully I don't die instantly since I'm not very good at Force User.

A convenient story recap:


We awaken in a desert, which isn't really relevant to the theme but ok


Force Users start with one spell and it'll be our bread and butter for the early game. Force Flame is a strong fire-based attack that requires a turn of meditating before it can be cast.


Force Users learn further spells by spending levels. You're limited to doing this 4 times. Further spells can be learned from the Fortune Teller without affecting this cap.


We also start with a wooden staff. Unlike other weapon types, staves increase force power but as a tradeoff have pretty mediocre attack values.


We find a tavern in the desert. The knight offers to sell us his shield for a pretty reasonable price, but I'm unfortunately dirt poor. Also, if I ever need a shield it's probably too late.


Iron Hags make unique equipment for a small fee but I still have no money.


If this thing hits me before I hit it I'm probably dead.

Quick explanation of meditation: the more you do it, the stronger a spell is. The three tiles of distance between me and the harpy gave me ample time to charge up a strong force flame.


We're out of the desert, which is good because desert terrain drains energy faster(winter terrain does actually!) and casting a spell uses up energy.


Uh oh.


Even weaker enemies can be a pretty major threat to force users.


Hopefully the Demon Lord doesn't just fucking outright murder me here considering all I can really do for now is run and hope for the best.
