If you're trying to connect with a Wurm Online account then its not going to work.
Edit: Nevermind, there is some sort of version missmatch. How the hell did they pull that off over night?
Edit of the Edit: There's a post from the host on the forum. Apparently they're moving the server to the beta client or some reason?

Kinda wish we had a sort of overall plan for how we want the town to go. I've been spending a lot of time just idle-mining to grind up arm strength so I can work the ground close to the town center and place my own little house near the shrine to Tsunami and pave some pathways radiating in straight lines from the center.
I did finish a well though, so at least we don't have to hear complaints about people drinking the forge water anymore. I've been thinking about plans for a sort of lodge/mead hall and a proper chapel to hold sermons in. Those are moderately large projects though and they'd take up a lot of manpower, resources, and space so I'm interested to see what plans other people have. Maybe we can set up a sort of system where we get some basic roadways planned out and we can place building plans in and around those. Or at least some sort of diagram so we don't just have everyone building off in random distances and directions and then building ugly zig zag pathways between them.

i think all of us should pitch in for big projects
i mean fucking ALL OF US
like one or two of us get water and food
the rest either get nails or wood for the wood god project

The town itself is the project. The question is what is done with it and how it looks when we're building it. There's no sense in just clearcutting the entire area to build a couple of huge barns to just do nothing with. The problem, also, with huge pointless projects is they tend to both create boredom and burnout. You spend a ton of time and resources on <thing> and then when you're done you look at it and say "yep, that's a thing" and there's little to show for it. With a more reasoned and measured approach (actually fleshing out the viliage into a viable town and expanding from there) we can appreciate the progress as well as focus efforts on the various little things that make the project matter too. Like roads to connect us to the highways that would allow us to enter into the economy at some point as well. I'm not opposed to big projects, but I'd rather they be part of the incremental growth of everything else. For example, I'm hamming up the priest gimmick a bit. Eventually I think it would be cool to be able to muster a following to build a colossus dedicated to the deity or similar. Instead, for now, I have a little wood shingle shrine. That will mean a lot more to me in the long run than a bigger project that lies unfinished for weeks or months until I burn out from lack of progress and frustration.
Things people should be focusing on is stuff like:
-Small, reasonable personal homes. Nobody here has enough personal belongings to need a huge house just for the sake of taking up space. A little cottage is certainly enough
-Roads aligned in a reasonable grid to connect the buildings in the town
-Shops and comforts you'd expect to find (taverns, inns, etc)
-Churches and graveyards
-Gardens and fields
-Barns and pastures
-Signs pointing to important parts of the town. Pretend you're some random dude who just stumbled over the town and wanted to know where the tavern was, for example.
- Town Hall/Mayor's Residence
- A wizard's tower just outside of town.
Each of these things helps make the town grow but do so in a way that makes sense without expending huge piles of land and resources into "because big" projects.

Cedar fyi if you don't build a well on a tile with water it's basically useless

I got burnt twice for buying it twice at $9. Rip me.
Also, the well is producing. It reaches the water table. We're good.

wait, what
you got lucky and built a well on a water tile
what the fuck
there isn't a water table, the game just randomly assigns tiles to have water, so you managed to build it on one by sheer luck

You may leave offerings at the shrine as a form of thanks to Her power at your earliest convenience.

also I forgot to mention this earlier but yeah
building fuck off huge houses (xhagi!!) and shit is a good way to get burnt out
focusing on leveling up your skills or making products to sell is a much better long term strategy and more interesting than making a 50x50 house
looking through the massive amount of cosmetic items to make your house pretty is also a good idea
we also have very little space - xhagi's house isn't even on the deed right now, and we're going to have to pay upkeep soon, so unless people get silver to expand the deed we're not going to have much space left on it - you can build next to the deed, but you'll have to put locks on your shit and deal with building decay
tl;dr just make a nice house for yourself and look through the skills to see what sounds interesting, don't go into this like minecraft where you need some giant project to stay entertained because that fucks up our limited space and results in "now what" sydrome

I'm going to have to come up with some way to level jewelrymaking too. Or come up with the cash to buy a statuette of Tsunami. After pouring through the extremely limited online information available, it appears I need a statuette of Our Lady of HotTopic in order to start channeling spells to do more than bless my well placements.

Underground construction is very limited from what I can tell, at least until well within the leveling system, but you can certainly dig.

Hey that's me.
I'm not burnt out, new patch for FFXIV. I'll be back in a few days when I get content done.
