Rimstation 13: part dos

With A18 being out for a bit and most mods getting updated, I've decided to start back up another rimworld run.

Starting with up to 10 colonists. Name, job, and a picture if you care enough about how they'll look in-game. Playing Randy Extreme, largest map as of last time, but I'll be letting the game's location randomize choose the starting spot this time. Starting supplies are going to be based on each pawn's job and whatever crashlands.

I use Facial Stuffs, which gives pawns a lot more facial detailing so there really isn't that much restriction.

Roster almost full, I'll probably start sometime tomorrow. The amount of combat-heavy pawns in this roster with miners is probably gonna lead to a mountain fortress setup if the randomizer selects a hilly landing location. It should be noted that I've based the starting gear on each pawn's job, so it'll essentially be going in with lots of guns, ore, and some meds since Qbopper is the only doctor. Better hope we don't land somewhere cold if we aren't getting a decent cook/grower for some starting food.

So starts another journey into the Rim.

Starting planet:

The location randomize put the landing spot on a mountainous arid shrubland next to a major highway, so I'll probably end up setting up a mountain fortress with a caravan side-business.

The ship they podded from is now raining from the sky, mostly people who were still in caskets and steel. The original 10 scurry to salvage what they can from the flames while survivors from the harsher landing are limping to the general site. While waiting for treatment, a production module proceeded to crash directly into the wounded spot and somehow only managed to kill one person.

Qbopper decided to run half-way across the map to save a terrier from crash flames while 6 people are currently bleeding out. Geist decides to tidy up the crash debris while everyone else is doing something important.

Night falls with rain, dousing the last of the fires with the colony's total count going from 10 to 13. oranges and Sloan spent the day setting up crops while Urist and Versus made decent progress on hollowing out the mountain. Versus also somehow managed to come upon fully-intact power armor during the crash, so there's that.

So ends the first day, with half the map burnt up and the other half covered in debris for salvaging at a later date. As a note, you can still get your character in with new recruits.

Quite a few people died, but none of them are from the original pool of 10. The deadlier crashlanding is from the Crash Landing mod, which starts you off with nothing and has you salvaging material from crashing ship modules rather than starting off with some basics.

Apparently saving the dog was more important than the guy who got his head crushed by a falling ship chunk, so take that as you will.

Manhunting terriers have entered the field, Urist was having none of it though.

4th day in, hunting begins as the the surrounding area becomes picked clean of food and starting supplies run out. Muffalos do not like being shot at.

Sloan got headbutted into submission by 5 muffalo and Splint, one of the survivors from the crash, got fuckin' domed by Robinson's first shot at the muffalo. His brain is just gone, nothing left according to the health tab.

Good start, honestly.

Yeah, he was also a level 14 in construction and was the only other decent builder besides Oxford.

Bowman held a funeral for Splint, only her and Oxford came to mourn.

Urist and Wiznard had enough of each other's shit and spent the entire night insulting each other in the main hall.

I was prioritized on getting some sort of half-decent base of operations going and the natural choke we're sitting in means defenses aren't an immediate requirement as we have more than enough firepower for the first year. I don't have embrasures installed because the game's AI is too retarded when it comes to instances where it can be shot at while not having a direct path to their attacker, which makes raids too easy.

Also, fucking RANDY.

We have no medicine what-so ever.
Bowman, Anonmare, Qbopper, Sloan, Donatello, and Geist are all sick from the plague. This is on-top of Urist going through alcohol withdraw since everyone stole his beer and is constantly putting corpses on the table from his mental breaks.

EDIT:
They're all dead. Urist broke down into paranoid babbling about we're all better off dead and the worst has yet to come. This isn't going so well.

Well, the save seems to of corrupted and I ran with a permadeath save so loading a previous save isn't an option. I guess Urist was right about the worst having yet to come.

urist insulted me so I broke the universe with magic, also this got me interested in rimworld again finna play some of it tonight actually. the crashlanding mod seems pretty sick imo - my current list (still probably gotta spend some time ordering them in game before I start up tho) one mod I found while on binge modding was realfow which looks pretty interesting, I hope it works with the rest of them.

Life begins anew in another thrilling episode of life on the rim, with the last series of events being completely non-canon and therefore should be ignored entirely.

Landing on a set of temperate islands, there are an extreme lack of mountains to hide in but most of the area is now water, meaning a ton of debris is probably going to be hitting the water where we can't even reach. Nice.

Luckily for us this time, we we're on a ship that actually had a medbay and managed to come down somewhat intact. There's quite a bit of regular meds in there and even some glitterworld medicine, which is essentially the best damn medicine in the game and lets even the shittiest of doctors patch someone up with almost 100% quality.

But of course there's always a catch, that catch being a giant radioactive engine has crash-landed right next to said medicine. It's still producing power but radiation takes half a year to heal and nobody has enough protection to attempt breaking it or laying cable to it. At least we grabbed the medicine before it dropped.

The game is throwing defenseless animals, medicine, bionics, and food at the reactor now. There's even a bionic spine and hand in that pile now, too. It's pretty damn tempting but radiation is a bitch to deal with.

I think the gods are actually just rubbing it in at this point with how much medicine is being thrown my way. That's the 4th fucking medicine cache that's landed and it bullseye'd the stockpile.

oranges has successfully woo'd Robinson into becoming lovers, good for them.

Day one comes to a close as rain comes in to douse the fires from the crash. I'm thinking of something like an open colony with each person having a personal bedroom hut ordeal. I have bridges mod installed so things like stilt colonies above the open water will probably be done.

Four days in, basic shelters and crops are growing and reserves should be large enough to last till the first harvest. The first raid was a single naked man with a club who got his heart shot out, didn't feel significant enough to screenshot honestly with how quick it went.

Spoiler:

I risked the chance and sent Oxford in with some extra clothing borrowed from a dead guy to try and lay some cable to the reactor. He may be slightly irradiated for half a year, but now we have a constant 4kw of power. I'm having Anonmare research electric smelting so we can start getting some steel out of the slag from the ship debris.

I see no reason why not, Facial Stuffs even allows for you to change their appearance at a dresser if you have a particular look in mind.

14 days in, so far not much has happened despite some people teetering on the edge of breaking since they're starting to realize they're stuck here for awhile. Had some visitors come and complain about the lack of beds. Do we look like a damn inn to you?

Captain Hutbeard was apparently island hopping and decided we looked pathetic enough to lend a helping hand to, just in time for a poison ship to crash on the opposite side of the island we're sitting on. Now we're trapped between two different irradiated ship parts that are slowly killing off the plant life around it. There is zero cover between us and the ship part so if any scythers spawn we're probably gonna be fucked.

Geist is also an impatient cunt and refused to stay in the bed for burn treatment so now he has two different infections from untreated wounds.

Oxford got into Sloan's cigarette stash during a binge and now hes addicted to nicotine. Urist is getting pissy because everyone drank his beer again and the barrels aren't fermenting fast enough for another batch.

Anonmare and Wiznard are now lovers, good for them.

Both surviving centipedes are basically immobile but slowly slinking their way to the base. I would of dealt with them earlier but visitors came and one of them was a pyromaniac.
