The sequel to our beloved rat slasher from 2015 is coming in March 2018. Gonna use this thread to shill.

According to some of the guys who make vermintide guides and videos (actual good ones) the maps are fantastic. The quality and polish is fucking asounding. The keep that replaces the inn as the lobby has a ton of shit to do.

The weapon trait system has also been majorly reworked and is said to be vastly better.

NEW UPDATE TODAY

Empire Soldier's classes have been revealed.

Mercenary: The jack-of-all-trades class, being medium armor/medium speed and good in both melee and ranged. Weapon shown is a fucking halberd.

Foot Knight: Heavy armor, lower speed. The tank of the group.

Huntsman: No armor, high speed, can use bows and all kinds of guns. Kruber goes fucking nuts basically.

Bump.

If you preordered V2 you can play the technical test going on now until the 19th. Progress will be reset after and it's fairly crash heavy but runs well.

Pre-order beta has begun, they say they wont reset progress if you start playing now but no promises.
I imagine if there's some huge bug or fuckup they can still reset but this is pretty fun.

When I play as the elf: Stay with my team. Use my daggers to provide crowd control so sister laserbeam can do her thing. Snipe some dudes when we aren't surrounded.

When anyone else plays as the elf: They're downed calling for a revive halfway across the map.

I hope you aren't talking about normal, because it's piss easy even at level 1. They just nerfed normal even further last night.

If you're straight up running into combat without a lot of CC experience from Vermintide 1 you're gonna get fucked up. Also blocking is different from the first, in that each weapon has a zone in front of them where stamina cost from blocking is normal, and outside of it you can still block but it costs more stamina.

You also need to prioritize targets. Your parry push won't hit everyone, so use your strike on one about to hit you who did not get stunned.

Now if you're talking about Champion then yeah, it can be hard, only because of the bullshit unbalance right now that high up.

How much did you play VT1? If you have little experience then yeah it's gonna take time to adjust. Not an easy game for new players.

We had a bug last night where a Bile Troll glitched and got stuck very early on Against the Grain and we had to spend the rest of the fucking level listening to that awful fucking music.

Is there a difference between parry and blocking? The internet is no help.

Some people think blocking is for when you get nailed by someone outside your block radius and it costs you more stamina, while parrying is just blocking anyone in your radius.

One or two people say there's a timed parry window during your block animation that will bounce attacks for cheap stamina but other people have posted to say that's bullshit.

I can't tell if I'm being misled or just bad.

Blocking is when you hold M2. Each weapon has a different cone. You block a full 360 degrees, but when hit outside of your weapons cone, the stamina cost is doubled.

A parry is when you hold M2 to block, and when you have a window to counterattack, you hold M1 while blocking to do an automatic, extremely fast push and attack. You keep holding M2 during this to automatically go back into block. Parry is extremely useful for controlling the zone in front of you due to its push and attack speed, and nesr instantly returning to block.

Blocking when an enemy is literally about to hit you is called a perfect block. This tends to make enemies stagget and fall backward.

Gat dam knowing all that stuff completely changed my approach to the game to be way more defensive and health-conservative.

I've never used Saltzpyre much before because I couldn't understand him (why would I want this puny rapier when I could have a bigass axe or sword or something?) but putting all that into practice combined with his abilities and the utility of his rapier power attacks he's fun as hell to play as.

Yeah the issue with the new scoreboard is people don't play defensively at all now trying to be the top killer, when the game is about who takes the least damage. For some reason the damage taken stat was removed.

The current best weapon for WH is the rapier. Aim at head level and you chop off heads fast. I have a rapier with 5% power cooldown on each crit, +5 crit chance, and +5 attack speed. On zealot my power is off cooldown for 5 seconds max.

Do weapon and shield combos have any intrinsic benefit other than having the highest stamina levels? I have a two handed dorf hammer with +2 stamina as its special, which puts it just one point under my hammer and shield combo and i think the single stamina point is well worth the extra kill power as long as there are no other variables at play

By default shield block everything at low stamina cost in a 180 degree frontal cone. With certain upgrades/talents it can be changed to full 360 for pretty much unbreakable block. Blocking is very very important on Champion and Legend, so, yeah.

Also launch trailer is out. They went with a stand still one to emulate a tabletop.

And at 3:24 the last hero standing combat music plays which always get me moist.

Salty has so many fun weapons. His one-handed axe is fun and satisfying. His falchion packs a wallop. The flail is TOO FUN HOLY SHIT I LOVE IT. I haven't tried to use his 2hander yet.

I agree though that the Rapier seems to be his best weapon. The ability to just quickly stuff multiple charge attacks into anything's face is so potent. The crit juggling shenanigans with the off-hand pistol is fun too with some crit damage boosting and point-blank range.

Funny because the one handed axe is considered the worst weapon in the game right next to the pick because zero armor penetration (what is was used for in 1), low damage, low speed, and getting stuck in every enemy.

So right after I finished the 30 minute download and completed the tutorial to get used to the game to play with people, the patch hits, and now I gotta wait through a 30 minute download and do the tutorial again... Delightful!

Keep in mind each and every one of these guys will two shot you at full HP, take 15+ hits to kill, there's a stormer hiding on the other side of the map, and we were pinned right after a drop point of no return.

Ultrawide spectator fov causes fisheye effect.

Also they nerfed everything again. Might stop playing because they want to make the talents and traits completely fucking worthless to care about.

I dunno. Its only 4 talents right? And the 85% healing was a bit nutso from what I understood as it effectively doubled the benefit of healing packs. Nerfing that makes sense considering that its modeled after L4D and those games don't work if resources are so plentiful there isn't an urge to move forward.

What do resourceful sharpshooter and resourceful combatant do?

Uh no, they stealth nerfed every class but the dwarf. Longer cooldowns, reduction of crit multipliers, reduction of active power duration, many weapons nerfed that didn't even need a nerf.

Also the L4D argument is non-applicable now. They advertised the game and trait system as being able to change your entire kit to suit your playstyle, when it's now just oh boy I do something 5% better.

I'm not going to quit playing because I'm still having tons o fun but I'm with Pillz

The devs are listening way too much to the vocal whiners on digg. People who are complaining that the game is too different from V1 and that a proper sequel should just be more of the same. That I read those exact words and saw how many upvotes and positive comments that line of thinking got made me want to pull my beard out in fistfuls. Holy shit. Fuck off. Go back to V1 if that's what you want you shitters.

The game is great but the community is terrible.

Like I'm in fucking love with Zealot mode Saltzy for the risk/reward gameplay of purposely soaking up injuries to get a massive attack/crit boost.

I'm afraid it's only a matter of time until people point out how the Grimoires can basically turn that shit on for you all the time and how that's not fair etc. etc. and they fuck that whole notion of play up.

1) Pick Falchion
2) Pick Zealot
3) Spend all your talents down the middle
4) Praise Sigmar
