so i finally got around to finishing this and thought i'd like to discuss it with other weebs. here's my two cents (and yes i know im a massive weeb for thinking this much about it):

never played a VN before but i enjoyed it, i only played for the good endings because im a sucker that hates sad things.

shizune's path: pretty good overall but i feel like misha played too big a role in it even though it was relevant to the plot. hisao and shizune dont seem to connect somewhat well but not on too deep a level, to the point where the relationship feels lacking in some respects. her dad's a cunt and her brother is OK but feels like just a lesser kenji.

hanako's path: a fairly good path, or at least i thought so until i played lily's path afterwards; it seems like she does much better for herself if you dont get involved with her (no panic attack scene, still is happy and even joins a club and makes new friends). with a comparison to events in her path vs in lily's path it definitely just seems like she becomes too dependent on hisao.

rin's path: definitely the worst path by far in my opinion. i understand that its rin's personality in that she cant communicate well, is aloof, and has trouble showing how she feels, but it still just seems that there is a transient relationship at best through the entire path except the ending (and even very much arguably so even then). it definitely just seems like a really unhealthy relationship on both sides, with hisao struggling to get his feelings across and understanding her while rin just doesnt seem invested in any kind of relationship, whether by intention or not. the neutral ending almost seems better for her, as the "good" ending sees her possibly giving up painting as the art teacher (who is creepy as fuck by the by) gives up on her and presumably not help her anymore.

emi's path: a good happy path through the majority of it; though the distance that grows between them annoyed me, the climax and ending did a good job of fixing the relationship and closing things in a satisfactory way. also, emi's mom has got it going on.

lily's path: definitely my favorite route. lily and hisao seem to connect on a much deeper level than any of the other paths, with the relationship evolving in a believable way to one of deep trust, understanding, and love between two people who truly enjoy each other's company. it also does a good job of developing hisao's character more; in all other routes (save emi's), he doesnt really have much of a plan for his future and is more or less just drifting along, which is somewhat understandable considering the jarring change in his life, but still leaves is character lacking. it really seems like he has a concrete idea of what he wants to do after graduation, and its only icing on the cake that it aligns with lily's goals to imply a college life together.

overall:
lily > emi > shizune > hanako > rin

ill leave this thread to die within 24 hours now.

yeah KS was my first VN.

It was alright, I played through it twice. Ended up liking emi the best will lilly second. Rin is really a love it or hate it route but I kinda enjoyed it (even though there's the meme that she's autistic.)

I liked Shizune but her route was garbage

I tend to prefer VNs that aren't just strictly dating sims. If you want more babby's first VN play Ever17 and 999. Even Ace Attorney is basically a VN. If you don't mind weird porno Monster Girl Quest gets pretty good, too.

Well I didn't want to say that incase of spoilers but yes that is the major reason for the change. However I felt Shizune-Hisao connected far more closely in the alpha route and Misha was not as prominent. I felt like Misha took up too much time in the final route which hindered development with Shizune.

You also have to note that most of the routes, except for Shizune's, are quite short in time span. Shizune's lasts the entire school year while the rest all end around Summer (in Japan Summer holidays are only a few months into the year). With Misha taking up so much in-game time I just felt it was more lacklustre than the alpha route.

If you want there is at least one fan-fiction route I can recommend as well which I enjoyed immensely.
