On the plus side, today I went from level 33 to 41.

We stealthed deathwish framing frame and a perfect run of shadow heist afterward for good measure. We would've stealthed a deathwish pro go bank for a fourth run but some new guy joined and stumbled right into the vault lasers.

All that points out is that the paid DLC is almost exclusivly for weapons and masks, and this being a PvE game means that guns being sold is not a pay 2 win issue.

Also you don't need to own any DLC to play the attached heist, only the host needs to own it.

Uh..No, it points out that paid DLC is less value than buying a game. It's past the point where it's little addons for a little extra, and at the point where you need to spend more money on 'extras' than on the game itself, and you'll get less for it.

It's still not Train Simulator style DLC, but they sure are trying their best to get there

They honestly need to start creating packages at some point for the DLC, but acting like the DLC is a huge ass problem is a bit missleading. The ongoing development model has actually been pretty alright, considering all of the actual gameplay content is completely free.

Also, not only is it PVE but the DLC guns generally are not super unbalanced and none of the DLC splits the community.

Buying a DLC for a heist just gives you the right to host a game with that heist.
You can join any lobby with a DLC heist that you don't own.





I know that the DLC is kinda expensive, but... I can forgive Overkill for that, because of the system I just mentioned, because they crank out updates like crazy, and because they are really dedicated to PAYDAY 2 and do a lot for the game that isn't strictly necessary if they just wanted to make money. For instance the live action trailers that come out with almost every major update.

That isn't dedication in my opinion, that is to sell more DLC. It just happens to be done in a very symbiotic way rather than parasitic way.

I will side with XSI on the heist issue, if only because most of the core heists were so simplistic. It is very good to see heists like Big Bank mixing it up by using the PD2 formula for heists for a big setpiece heist like in payday 1, and I absolutely adore the Hoxton breakout for being essentially a better version of heat street day 1 and a better version of the old fashioned "Bunker down" heists in 1 but with the addition of genuine class utility and tactical choices based on procedural content.

i just wish every new heist wasnt a huge dlc update
like i wish they just did more heists
like they just did them and released them, that would be cool
every update has to have a hype page and a bunch of new masks and shit though and honestly, id rather they just make more content to actually play
having cool guns and masks is nice and all but when theres only like 15 actual heists to play them on the game itself gets stale

Agreed. It doesn't even look like the new heist has any guns, so the incentive to buy it is amazingly low. The perk deck is also lackluster.

I defend payday 2's DLC model because nothing really forces you to buy shit. And I am not going to be buying this garbage. Maybe next pack.

Yeah, same. Apparently the heist itself isn't very impressive either, so I'll just stick to joining lobbies.

What the fuck is actually going on with that new perk deck?

All these bonuses for standing still and crouching, but not to aversion or anything...just to avoid being targeted.
Seems like pure trash. Like they wanted to make another Crook deck?

People say it's a stealth-oriented deck for getting bonuses to bagging bodies, picking locks, and answering pagers but it seems like such a waste of time pouring points into that when ideally during a stealth run how fast you can do those things shouldn't ever matter.

Picking locks, answering pagers, and bagging bodies quickly is actually pretty useful if stealth goes wrong. If stealth goes right you really don't need anything besides shinobi, if stealth goes wrong it is really freaking nice to have camera looping. Lockpicking faster stacked with the lockpicking perk makes it nearly instant with a 75% total time reduction, which is useful if you have a stationary by a locked door.

Also, the agro avoidance bonus is really strong for support mastertechs, who generally do not have an optimal tanking strategy and should always be the last to die, assuming that you can afford to let them sit fights out, which isn't true at the high end missions where you would need to maximize for efficiency anyway. As it is the agro avoidance on the perk deck at the cost of tank is just a toy compared to the situationally useful chameleon.

I don't think it is a good deck, but it is definitel different than crook. Like entirely different. I am going to assume you meant rogue because it is the only deck that shares functionality with burglar. In comparison with rogue, burglar is much more useful on stealth runs, much better for 'non-combatants' and has much less tank. It probably won't see much play due to the ridculous paywall and the fact that I doubt the meta is really ready for true non-combatant support, but if you are running shadowraid it is strictly better than any other option.

The heist itself is actually ok. Interestingly enough it seems like they deliberately included elements that make going from stealth to loud easier and more attractive. For example early in the level it is a lot of open hallways and rooms with little cover, making it so that firefights would be rather lethal for the team, but once you near the end everthing becomes a huge funnel that allows even one combat equiped player to hold everyone off with minimal aid.

I liked the last bit of security for the diamond. That was actually creative and enjoyable.

Yeah, see, my crew sneaked into the vault and then everyone froze so we wouldn't trip any traps and such. We then had one guy talk one of us(me) through it by voice while the rest started looting the rest of the museum

Having a group you can rely on helps a lot
