It's actually fun now.
>seemless multiplayer, can even be on opposite ends of the galaxy
>can now build inside of your frigate
>can buy big freighter ships to add to your fleet
>massive fleet battles now a thing
>third person mode
>less grindey
>quests you can undertake
>planet generation redone so no longer just balls with a texture on it
>can now crash into things with your ship
It's half off on Steam and even less on GMG.

Just admit you made a mistake when you got it originally and move on.

But I bought it a few days ago.
When those pirates attacked my fleet there were two pubbies in my system. One watched from the space station which rumbled when my frigates stray cannon fire hit it, and another watching from that ringed planet. He could see the explosions from down there.

Fully built up my fleet of ships and built up the inside of my freighter. Took me hours.

spengos I'll give you because fucking keen
but take back that shit about subnautica, a handcrafted small world is infinitely preferable to a huge, but procedural and thus soulless one
besides, full-price nms is way more expensive than spengos or subnautica

Keem may be fucking idiots a lot of the time but planets and a lot of shit were outside the initial scope of the game and hey even trying is pretty ambitious.

Keen can't be forgiven for making a vast fucking semirealistic space game, then adding - yes, ambitious, but - tiny fucking planets.
And for giving their turrets an autotargeting range of 800m, this is just ridiculous. And then there's the arbitrary speed cap.

From what ive seen so far, the game looks pretty fun. I doubt ill play it, because the idea of just grinding and flying to new, boring planets sounds... boring. Maybe if it had more stuff to do besides exploring new planets. Everything else looks tacked on.

as for the rest that's memery, right?

A lot of resources are finite, but with how much there is you will never run out. At most you may have to look deeper, or build a scanner room.

As for No Man's Sky, the day the game contains every feature that it advertised with is the day I might consider buying it.

Eh it's a quality assurance speed cap surprisingly as buggy as the game is under intended conditions you can mod to go over that cap and while things still can work colliding objects are basically rolling to intersect with each other and not phase through each other like spooky ghosts. The speed limit defines the expected size of a game world maximum 6 au going by uncertain sources even going so far the generated region matches the diameter of jupiter is pretty hard going about sports car max speeds like ships in space engineers vanilla do. As for the planets being too small yeah sure but no mans sky planets are smaller and most video game depictions of a planet fake it anyway just plonking you onto X map that represents Y planet with the exception being things like universe sand box I guess. Even games lacking the need for surface detail like strategy games have inaccurate scale like say Stellaris.

Me and a few friends picked it up and we’re having a great time. It’s dramatically improved from what it was and it’s great. Also eat my ass cosmic space engineers and subnautica are both great I’ll beat you up if you say otherwise

So... you don't need to deforest a planet to take off anymore?

not really
just grab a buncha crystals and beat up some rocks and then you're good to go for two take-offs
I have more launch fuel than I care to admit tbh

Normal or survival? I watched someone stream survival mode, and it took a whole 50% of your launch thrusters fuel supply to take off. Which i believe is exactly how much 1 unit of the fuel consumable gives you in the first place. So fucking grindy. Massively increasing the amount of material your suit/ship requires seems like a terrible way to increase difficulty.

yeah, I'm playing normal because survival isn't for me

There's zero reason to play survival, it's the exact same as normal but with higher resource costs and lower resources overall.
Also, mods work even in multiplayer, and only affect the person using the mod. Turned my jetpack into dead space like rocket boots, space is now actually black, no dumb glow around planets, no launch cost, faster mining, no 1 aecond hold on menu clicks, loads of quality of life stuff. Much more fun now.

also uh
are the freighter raid missions bugged or what
I'm following the co-ordinates, but when I get there no one's there
so I reload, the freighter's there, and after shooting up the required number of pods it doesn't actually register that I did

Frigate missions you get from freighters were added like last week and are really buggy aifk

Don't do frigate missions, I watched a stream and they said that they have a bug that can corrupt your save.
Game may be good now but we're still talking about developers who outright LIED about features and I still don't understand how they got no criminal charges for that. They deserve nothing.
"Yes the game has multiplayer"
"Actually 2 players met and couldn't see each other"
"Oh silly me, there is no multiplayer yet, we just didn't expect 2 people to meet so quickly and call our scam"

I was skeptical, but I bought it at the end of the sale, though I used the CODEX release as an extended demo in case I wanted to refund it a third time (why don't games do demos any more? I remember when they used to give a third of the game away for free (because I'm old)).
Surprisingly they have managed to pull it off and make an actual game out of this.
Survival mode can still go stuck a dick though

Some games still do demos
Steam has the functionality in place for most games to do so but then they probably think they'll lose sales if people realize the game is crap before spending money on it, despite refunds being a thing

people don't do demos any more because they realised they couldn't top the Stanley parable demo

Stanley Parable is a masterpiece. Also Empyrion is the NMS game you want unless you are a stickler for graphics. Could use more content but I'm not sure what they've added in the last couple years. Still has a very positive review rating on Steam.
