I didn't play Smash 4 so a bunch of characters are new to me
Right now I'm maining Bayonetta and Inkling

Inkling is actually REALLY GOOD.

Adventure mode is interesting, pretty much any fight with mini fighters is a pain in the ass on the Switch screen, though. And the Spirits system seems just as irrelevant as the Stickers in Brawl. The AI is clearly massively improved.

There are some interesting technical changes on the more obscure side, too- dodging repeatedly now reduces your i-frames. I wish it didn't apply to dodges where you actually would have been hit if you had no i-frames, though- it empowers projectile spam by a non-trivial degree.

Directional shielding feels much stronger, too, and a much more viable option.

It’s so good, especially after the awkward smash4

Woomy is my main and she’s great. You have to take every opportunity to recharge since an opponent who knows what they’re doing will try to keep pressure on you but that’s so fun

World of Light is fun and spirits were an excellent idea to further pay homage to Nintendo games through non-main characters. There isn’t much reason to ever change your primary or fighter after you get a pair that you like, though. I’m powering through most of it as Lucas+Wolf Midna+bob-omb start

There’s almost way too much to do in this game

I have mixed feelings on World of Light, it's just okay. Many of the fights are fun, but the ones with multiple opponents tend to be frustrating enough that I don't like it much (and are unplayable on the Switch screen).

I stopped at melee
brawl felt weird
but the original smash still has a very, very special place in my heart

I have found losing gsp to stage hazards or having the stage benefit them way more than me is a million times more frustrating than losing it to lag
