Is this multiplayer? The trailer's forced dialog was confusing. Could be fun for some PVE exploration with friendos.

It’s multiplayer only, but you can start your own server if that’s your thing.
There’s also both PvE and PvP servers to compliment tastes.

how does this game avoid the extreme grind chore

Grinding isn’t too bad, and when you get raided you don’t lose your base since they can’t take over your land claim like Rust.
