Homeworld Remastered is now up for preorder on steam.

Here's a quick synopsis of the series if you've been living under a rock.

- RTS game with Space Opera elements
- Two playable races, each virtually symmetric with the exception of certain ship design philosophies
- Amazing voice acting, music and setting
- In the campaign you are in control of the Pride of Hiigara, a Mothership class vessel that houses one of three Warp Cores in the known galaxy

The remastered edition includes not one but FOUR GAMES, the original Homeworld 1 & 2 along with the remakes. Graphics, sound and textures have all been touched up to modern standards. If you have not gotten the chance to play it you should go buy it. Same goes for everybody who is a fan of the old series. Seriously, go do it. Right now.

Hitting it. This should end my infinite frustration with the Collector's Edition preorder not working via Amazon because money-grubbing assholes and petty corporate rivalries.

No Cataclysm = No Buy

Cata wasn't bad, no. It had a surprisingly unique feel to it and the tactics required were rather different from those of standard Homeworld.

That, unfortunately, is its problem. It doesn't quite fit in between 1 and 2, gameplay- and story-wise. Not enough to be included, anyway.

Cataclysm was some dark shit.

Fun as fuck lategame, though.
Especially when going all like "Bitch, I have five dreadnaughts!" until You-Know-Who pops up, then exchanging them all for Super Acolytes.

Also, 1/8th time flow micromanagement is orgasmic. Still surprisingly hectic, but wow.

I'm not sure if that involves turanic raiders or whatever but it might be cool. I don't see why they would mention it otherwise.

It probably means you can Kushan vrs Vaygr, Taiidan vs Hiigaran, etc.

Which utterly shatters my dream of Kadeshi-ing the fuck outta those Turanics. (Kadeshi are my waifu race.)

I still haven't figured out how not to lose half my fleet on that mission, though.

I guess going counterintuitive could work? Moving the fleet as far away from the mission area as possible, going in with Acolytes to get their attention/fire missile barrages and deploy the Command Ship personally? They'll stop after the Kuun-Lan has suffered enough damage, IIRC.

Pax south is a thing that happened. They talked a bit about the game and showed some footage. 24:30 is the first anybody outside of gearbox has seen of the remastered Taiidan fleet.

This game is difficult.
I need to git gud.

That's Homeworld for you.

I still consider it a fakken disgrace that it uses the HW2 system to determine hits, though.
