Ah, I never saw the hype, I only saw it as a terrira but better. Though I didn't like the absence of being under siege that Terria always had. It felt like making a decent base was for a reason in Terrira, not simply aesthetics.

the combat is crap
the movement feels floaty
theres not really anything to do besides try to climb the tiers and build a base, its more like minecraft with guns than its like terraria
terraria is an adventure game with a great building system, it has better combat and more polished content. although its a finished game and starbound isnt.
the guns and weapons have horrible animations and dont really feel fun to use, none of them have satisfying effects or noises; attacking enemies is usually either an MMO-style grind or a one hit kill, either them killing you or you killing them.
planets are too small and boring and landing on one feels less like an adventure and more like a scavenger hunt for chests and sometimes ore before you leave to find a better planet.

the one thing i actually enjoyed about starbound was when icestation was still a thing and we made a band to play .abc's. that minor feature was the most fun i had out of a game which is supposed to be much more expansive. that's just disappointing.

oh and chucklefish is a horrible company and tiy is a retard

i will have to give them credit though, they were smart in picking a cute girl as the community manager, it has certainly helped ease the tension between the horny 13 year old fan base and the devs.

Confirmed. Playing it with you guys made the game so many millions times better than it actually was. I tried playing it by myself and after maybe two days was ready to burn it all down and never come back.

The fact that there's SWG pictures in this thread and it looks like the emulator is coming along nicely fills me with a very warm sense of happiness.
