Fucking finally, smart AI. I always thought it was really fucking awkward in games when I'm steamrolling everyone, have the hugest slice of the pie, and people are still uppity and acting like they have a ghost of a chance fighting me off. Watching the littlest guys flock to the Blorg for protection from the mid/upper range other races on the table is really refreshing. Yes, that is exactly the play you should be making.

These streams have made me even more hyped for this damn game. Fuck.

It seems like the different race portraits also have some hidden color varieties too. Like you can pick one of the pictures and then there are different palette options for it.

Fuck man, this game just keeps giving.

Yeah, I think as your empire expands different sub species will be created.
Some may just be aesthetically different, like different color shrooms, or they may have different traits or ethos.

I love the late-game events they talked about. There's the sentient AI uprisings, Old Ones, and even ghetto Tyranids who invade from outside the solar system from what we've seen so far. There's also rumors of there being "Sanctuary" planets which are basically the Halos from Halo that either hold superweapons or hold biological terrors/other deadly shit that will fuck up the galaxy.

Multiplayer sounds like it would be cool as hell. You could be hella militarist, maybe kill a few players, and then after that start demanding vassalage or death. Though if you vassal somebody they can probably just rebel afterwards the second that it becomes advantageous since they're humans and don't have diplomacy scores like the AI so that would probably be a bad idea.

The thing is you would likely have your own interior factions that would become upset with you for suddenly breaking your vassalage.

I'm not sure how much of a page they are taking from their other games or other 4X's but there are plenty of games where you are mechanically locked into a treaty or locked out of war until you have got the support of your people. No casus belli? Get the fuck outta here.

That's where you send their armies to battle rather than yourself, and if they don't comply you punish their ass for that.

They did change espionage in that last DLC so maybe it's better now. Used to be a huge joke though

I'm trying to think of a start time that will accomodate the most people so we can get some hours in the day it comes out. No midnight release stuff, I assume people have careers and educations to keep after.

This isn't going to be over in an evening either, we'll pretty likely have to save at some point and then play again another night, which is monumentally difficult to get people to commit to.

Unless of course the game totally blows somehow and we all immediately hate it. Or someone just blows everyone out completely and wins the game in the first few hours.

So during the weekdays (in CST) I can play fairly regularly from about 3:45 PM to 7:00 PM
Won't play at all on saturdays
Can play from 5:00 PM to like 10:00 PM on sundays (then off to sleep for early morning activities, yay)

Also I doubt all of us will hate it - if any of us at all really.

Just because a empire is pacifistic does not mean they can't put up a good fight.

I also heard the Dev's mentioning at one point that pacifist empires can enact edicts that can help them fight defensive wars effectively. So your population won't get unhappy your in a war to defend yourself.
