Just finished it.

Pretty solid game. Nothing spectacular to play, but the story was really good.

Anyone else have any strong feelings on it?

Amnesia was better.

I watched all the cutscenes.

I liked what I saw, but then again I'm a massive sucker for these sorts of things.

Also the ending was predictable as hell.

In the end does it turn out
Spoiler:
you were a robot the whole time?
Don't want any other spoilers, but I kinda guessed this as soon as I talked to the one dude who was stuck on the assembly line thing

Spoiler:
You find that out a hell of a lot sooner than the ending. Try the first 1/4th of the game.

I LOVED the story, J_Madison bought me it on release day and I'd finished it by the next day.
I've been hyped for SOMA since they announced it ages ago.

Loved the ending, will be raving about it for ages.
Spoiler:
However, I'm not sure which part of the ending I prefer:
* The emptiness of Simon being left alone at the bottom of the ocean after Catherine implodes
or
* The reassuring feeling you get knowing and seeing that *One* of the Catherines and Simons ends up in the ARK.
and
Spoiler:
While the "twist" is obvious, they played it well I feel, since, it's important to the plot, but it doesn't ruin anything.
If anyone's interested, they're releasing a mini web series on their Youtube Channel about SOMA, it's the same videos as the ARG they did but in full and they've got the same atmosphere.
Something nice for after the game.
Spoiler:
They're mostly about Imogen Reed, you know, the first dead woman's body you occupy.

The twist isn't
Spoiler:
that you're a robot
the twist is that
Spoiler:
you were put together by WAU, the fucked up AI causing all this trouble, because your own brain scan has gone on to be used as a template for AI's. Every slavering crazy robot monster you see is potentially a version of yourself. You're a horrible robot monster made using the remains of a dead woman, with the head smashed apart and a pair of cameras jammed into the spine from where the head should be. You're a fucking disgusting dead body cyborg. Simply being a robot would be an improvement.

It was an alright game. Some freaky moments here and there but not nearly as scary as I expected. The first horror game I have completed in ages.

The story was pretty cool but also very depressing in a lot of respects.

I actually thought the story was great because of that. Not every tale out there is meant to evoke happiness or feelings of well being.

Yeah, me too.

It's ultimately a really shitty situation that has already happened and been resolved before you ever show up. Everything you do in the game could be argued to be completely-fucking-pointless from a philosophical/existential perspective. You don't save the world. At best you just help some people further their own weird delusions of immortality or something. None of it matters to you, you were never alive in the first place.

Yeah, I get that. It certainly was interesting and memorable but just not the type of story I enjoy the most. In the beginning you have some hope about the situation you are in but pretty fast everything is taken away from you. It's funny how the characters can still persevere in such an environment.
