I also wanted to play it. Everyone who tried to join the server kept getting an error about a tigerthresher file being corrupt(?). We all tried redownloading from the webserver and fresh installs but it just wouldn't work.

I checked the bug reports forum on undertow and it didn't seem like anyone had encountered this but I don't have an account there I don't think, and I don't want to make one just for this.

Could one of the custom subs be causing an error?

Re: Barotrauma: SS13 Underwater

by Wyzack
It seems unlikely given that the sub files should not be touching the creature files, but i suppose it is possible. Did we try having someone else host?

BT Public 24/7 #1 has been updated! http://barotrauma-server.com/

I have opened the administrator application at the forum to prevent griefing. I have created some tools, such as a public ban list and a staff panel to add/edit bans and view them. For more information about this check here: http://barotrauma-server.com/news.php

To apply for admin look here: http://barotrauma-server.com/phpBB3/vie ... p?f=11&t=7

Hopefully this will help to reduce griefing on our public server and create a better playing experience!

Also, I've heard you guys having trouble with some game version so I uploaded a version I am sure about that works: https://landon.stackstorage.com/s/GzBrMsGGJyIRtFH
Someone at my digg post replied to me with the same issue, however when I proposed this option he didn't reply anymore. I cannot be 100% sure that this solves the problem, but if you guys are still having issues, feel free to give it a try!

Correct ;)

It's indeed very entertaining, developers of the game are currently focusing on improving the netcode.
In the meantime I also keep improving my own server/website/community.

Just got this game, holy crap this is amazing. How do they make it so tense at times yet so comfy at other times? The atmosphere of the game is truly breath taking too.

There has been fire for ages
But because there is a lot of water, you don't usually see it

For the record from what I could see it was minor flooding at the time, because the flooding was
contained
only a third the ship
not touching the reactor
not killing the controls or anything extremely vital, just flooring us with how much water there was

Fire only really happens when someone loads the reactor too high, the fire artifact is brought on board, or someone griffs

BT Public 24/7 finally back online after more then 4 months!

After a week of testing durability and new possibilities, I have made my decision to put it back online. Not much changes, every service will be online, including administration and information at the website. Ofcourse I will continue to improve BS, as I have done before. To keep up-to-date with the latest changes, I recommend you join the Discord server, the best way to communicate directly :D

Administration applying will be possible again, we currently have 3 administrators, 4 plus me. Click on the link in the post above this one for more information.

I wish everyone great fun on the server, don't forget about this game!

Barotrauma Server announcement 18-04-2018

Hey there again :D , Barotrauma is still alive and growing, it's in development day by day. Come and give it a check if you haven't been around for a while!

After a month of testing BT Public 24/7 #2 on a VPS, the decision has been made to put it online definitively. Thanks by donations over the years, it's possible to keep the server online for atleast 10 months! The server will be identical to #1, will be maintained 24/7 and will also be administrated by the team.

To prevent any confusion with possible 'fake' servers that popped up in the past, below the needed information for BT Public 24/7 #2:
IP: 85.214.225.32
PORT: 14242

Community information
Website: https://barotrauma-server.com/
Forum: https://barotrauma-server.com/phpBB3/index.php
Discord: http://discord.gg/Svh2e2g

Banlist: https://barotrauma-server.com/banlist.php
Stafflist: https://barotrauma-server.com/stafflist.php

Come join the community and be up-to-date with the latest information, improvements and events. Ask our mentors for help about the game or anything related to Barotrauma, call administrators when in need at the servers or place a report at the forums. And most important, share the daily happenings you experience in the wonderful world of Barotrauma :D

Short description
BT Public 24/7 #1 is being hosted since October 2016, aside from a few months gap last year around summer, it's been online ever since. I have always kept focus on keeping the services as public as possible and will continue to do so. Barotrauma is an amazing game, it shares a lot in gameplay with Space Station 13, one of my favourite games. Nowadays BT Public is not the only 24/7 maintained server and that's a good thing, it's a sign of grow in popularity around the game. I hope to see this game grow out to something way bigger, surely looking forward to what's yet to come. :)

Enjoy playing at Barotrauma Server(s) and hope to see you coming by!

We revived this for a little bit in the shitcord and I just want to say I think it's great that months and months ago we kinda poo poo'ed on Landon for showing up here to advertise his server, and now it's like the number one/most consistent server for the game any of us have seen.

Good for you dude. This crow tastes like shit.

The new steam version is actually pretty well made, its still missing some useful things like proper steam integration. But the sprites look nicer, it works nicer and feels more fleshed out. Like proper effort has gone into it.

The worst-balanced or most out of place elements are all its attempts to copy or nod to SS13.

People are ignoring traitor rounds to play co-op campaigns or PVP combat. They play much better andmore seriously, the game is better off without the lol randumb goofyness of spessmens.

It seems counter-productive to the game when people ask for more SS13-sized pops on subs. Bigger, badder subs, more weapons and things. Three people working together can already beat the highest difficulty pretty consistently, what the game actually needs to progress are more enemy types, mission types, and some QOL fixes and improvements.

This strongly depends on who you're playing it with

Suppose that's true. But outside of playing single traitor rounds on easy difficulty the game doesn't really have the "room" to goof around not just get in an endless loop mission failures over and over and over...
If you don't really care about the "game" part of the experience and just want to fuck around you can have your fun but that's true of every game ever.

SS13 encourages you to fuck off from your job, wander around, goof off and knock eachother around the halls. You're more likely to spot antags and scream about it when you're chasing the fucking clown down maint tunnels. It works out.

In Baro it's a lot more imperative that people stick to their jobs and work together unless you're playing on babby difficulties. Baro is more about fighting external threats while SS13 is all about internal threats from traitors and intruders on the station itself. If people didn't fuck around in SS13 it would be boring as shit, there'd be no game. If people fuck around in Baro it might be FUN but the game-y part of it becomes nigh-impossible (again, unless you crank the difficulty down and maybe have to fight a tiger thresher once).

To reiterate like; you're not wrong, you could play it like a goofy underwater field trip and have a good time. Before you decide that that's the way to play the game though I'd recommend getting some people together to SRS the fuck up and crank the difficulty up to max for a few single delivery runs and see how that grabs you. It's really fucking intense and good.

going to ruin this thread so hard damn you anus3 I've been feeling so anxious since this came out since I knew that last I played barotrauma if you asked me what I'd do when it came to early access I'd say I'd buy it immediately but now it's been a month and I still haven't bought it and I tell myself it's because it costs 30 bucks but you know what timbre the real reason why I haven't bought barotrauma yet is because I don't know who I'd play it with I bet you're in your noodle cup having a gay old time with 8 people but I'm just asking myself if I could sink so low as to play public games damn it timbre every time a multiplayer game I was excited for finally gets released it pains me and barotrauma coming out made me realise: even if I'm almost certainly not actually alone I feel extremely lonely but I don't want to talk about it because I feel all my friends just tolerate me and if I were to loathe myself for 20 minutes it would just waste their time at best damn it Barotrauma I wish you were delayed so I wouldn't have to worry about getting my shit together to enjoy you just yet. I think I'll tell myself that I'm going to wait until it's out of early access, yeah, I'll wait until it's out of early access. Yeah.
