I think the reasoning behind the Tuesday release dates for things is that it gives retailers a business day to set shit up and receive/arrange stock on Monday before putting stuff out for Tuesday.

Monday release days would require all that prep work be done on Sunday, which is typically a shorter day with reduced staff for most businesses. Doesn't work out.

Friday is typically a busier day for most businesses naturally as people get paid and run out to blow it all on stuff. Adding releases to that is also messy.

Adept for long swords are cool but rather impractical, I find better chances as air born where I can jump a spirit gauge with a chance of mounting. GS + Adept = Ninja Gaiden Dabilahro.

Just took down the Fated Four, hoping to get into multiplayer soon. With 4U I had the luxury of having a group of IRL friends to play through the gathering hall with but I've got no such thing this time around. I'd love to get in on it if you guys are forming a hunting party.

Noice. I just beat Great Maccao using Adept HBG. Holy tits is this setup sweet. Nailing the dodge right reloads your gun and seems to give you some charge towards using your art (or maybe I'm just imagining that?). So now HBG can get in there and it never needs to get out. As long as the monster keeps trying to bite you you can keep using those attacks as an opportunity to get a free reload.

I spent most of the fight scoped-in shooting Maccao in the head with gunpowder'ed up Normal S2 and it wrecked it pretty hard. When he looked like he was about to attack I would roll directly into him to trigger the Adept dodge, ridiculous iframes, and free reload.

If you are experienced at MH or MH-esque games then i doubt you will have much trouble. The previous MH games were the shame. Less skilled players complained about some quests, where as vets cleared them super fast. Low rank is basically a tutorial, you should have few issues there unless you are new or have not played in a long time. High rank requires more effort and preparation, but still nothing crazy. G rank is where things get really fun, but MHG lacks G rank sooo....

I know they scaled weapon damage so stuff like sword and shield will be more used. Throughout my time in monster hunter everybody either used: GS/LS/Hammer/Spear/SB/Dual Wield. I some times see gunners and a charge blade rarely but as far as im concerned the charge blade is pretty much even with everything else.

That said, if you can get the hang of the stupid heat gauge mechanics, it's still a neat weapon to use. If you can get the timing off, adept GL seems like it'd be pretty good because you can perfect block > slam > full burst for some good burst damage. Aerial doesn't seem too bad and focuses mostly on doing jumping slams into full bursts.

For hunter arts, definitely go either with the blast dash or whatever it's called or Wyvern's breath. The blast dash gives the weapon some mobility it has desperately needed for a while. Wyvern's Breath helps to alleviate some of the damage issues and problems with the heat gauge.

I played gunlance almost exclusively in 4U and I'd like to say I got pretty good with it. Tons of people have no fucking clue how it works because nobody uses it so they love to just make shit up, so if you have any questions about it feel free to ask me.

I played a lot of CB in 4U and while the new guard points are cool, removal of AED out of sword mode makes the weapon feel clunky to an unusable degree. I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of the worst in the game.

adept gl is hilarious, awful shit

if the monster took a single, errant step away from you, prepare to miss and accomplish literally nothing with your block and you can't fire > reload because sometimes adept style needs to remove the unnecessary bits like some damage

i'm going to take a look at cb now that nobody's using it (as opposed to literally fucking everyone using it)

Prowlers might not be complete shit like I first thought they would be.
After some testing with a Fighting aspect prowler I was able to put up some alright times with one solo.

Pro's:
Doesn't need picks/nets to gather bugs or mine.
Immune to hot/cold areas effects
Infinite stamina for dodging, blocking, sprinting
Has both melee and ranged attacks
Gear is very easy to make compared to hunter gear
Lots of potential utility to group play if built specifically (could be a WHM, trap spammer, bomb specialist, etc.)
Surprisingly damage resilient for a tiny cat
Doesn't affect hunt reward when killed
Doesn't get carted when killed instead remains in the zone

Con's:
Damage output is only mid-tier(?)
Cannot use items at all for healing, dependent on support moves instead
When killed you only restore to half HP
Configuring your skills/moves takes a lot of work, not just leveling up. Need to raise multiple cats and have them teach eachother moves. Need to get lucky when scouting and find cats that have moves you want to pass on. Very involved process.
A hunter using HH and carrying support items could arguably do a better job than a support prowler

This article seems to have some pretty solid advice I've been mostly following. So far so good, even beyond the prowler having two palicoes that aren't just "free range" to help me as a hunter in solo is really good.

there are ways to build prowlers to get them to do huge damage but prowler skills are entirely RNG so have fun recycling quests over and over lol

Yeah I've stopped momentarily to just scout a ton of cats and run stupid quests to advance the clock over and over.
It's kind of aggravating but at least you can see all the skill the cat can learn when you first scout them, so you know if they're a winner or not.
