replaying dark souls 3 with new hardware, and my god it's so much more enjoyable for some reason. It's not the graphics boost, it was already pretty on my old gpu. maybe I just needed time off the game?

The new Hitman game was pretty fun. Got back to its sandbox roots, although levels can be fairly formulaic and it lacked a good climax.

A shorter game than usual, too, but the individual levels had so much more content in them.

Demon which mod are you using? And most important, are you running it at 1920x1080? I'm using GWX gold and Ahnenerbe WideGui for the resolution but it's unstable as hell and constanly crashing

The widescreen stretching triggers me because I want to intercept convoys at right angles, so I manually turn it down to 1400x1050 before starting, then screech because it messes up my desktop but I'm currently too lazy to unfuck it and/or look for a simpler solution.

Disregard that, I'm letting my graphics card voodoo programs determine the resolution the game is supposed to run on and automatically set it.
I still don't know what resolution that is, but I guess whatever is game default.

The game doesn't run widescreen (without stretch) unless you apply the right fix, and requires yet more fixes to run higher resolutions in the first place... I guess you're running it at low res. Ahnenerbe WideGui makes it widescreen and "HD"

Picked up Beyond Earth over the holiday sales and I'm coming around to playing it for the first time.

It's not that bad. I'm actually having a lot of fun. At least with the expansion. It's just not what you may expect from Civilization.

Yeah, it has no personality but I think they make it up for all the different ways you could customize your colony.

The lack of a trade table is a bit bizarre but then again I just abuse the trade table against the dumb AI in every game anyways. The war score system is also kind of weird but it's just an extension of their decision to ditch the trade table. Trading traits for your colony was a neat idea, and I see they took a part of it with them when they were designing Civ 6 AI behavior.

I think it's a real shame it got kiboshed like XCOM2. It's certainly more fun than Stellaris.

All survival games are terrible.
Except maybe The Solus Project, only because its a scripted adventure game with survival mechanics - though I've not played this so can only infer from a short lets play I watched of the opening level.

Finished playing, and am replaying, Resident Evil 7. I am enjoying it significantly, the early to mid game reminds me of the original Resident Evil (at least the remake).

I'm also playing Renegade X, a free multiplayer shooter in similar vein to C&C Renegade. I'm also playing the campaign to Warzone 2100 and have just finished the campaign and am slowly replaying it on the highest difficulty setting.
