2 hours of cutscenes in Final Fantasy XIV
They werent bad cutscenes, but that's a bit much for my taste

On a total cost to cutscene ratio FFXIV is more efficient than a cinema

I've already missed out on two dungeons because the intro cutscene and boss cutscene was longer than the time it took the group to complete the dungeon

There was a ~5 year gap since I last played Classic, but the changes feel really subtle.

The voice acting actually helps with the amount of dialogue there is, the loredumps are more naturally spread out, and the rewritten story really does help make the game a lot more bearable.

With the exception of Cyseal. That place is always so boring.

I would just connect my old PC to my tv with a wireless KB and mouse, its still more powerful than a console toy anyway.

Anything more demanding... well I have full Gigabit Ethernet running through the house and steam streaming works really good.

The only time I've enjoyed a shooter on console since Doom was playing DUST 514 on my PS3. That was great because it had keyboard and mouse support so I could dunk nerds using controllers and controller rotation speeds.

been playing wolfenstein 2, thoughts so far

- fuck it's as good as I hoped for
- the sound design is still a little wonky as it was in tno, it feels like the game in general is too quiet and the music maxed out isn't loud enough
- the execution animations before you get the hatchet are laughably bad (except for one) but then you get the hatchet and they're fucking gross/awesome
- gunplay feels even better
- i'm suffering from unfortunate tunnel vision whenever I play (happened with tno) where I don't really take in the environments because I'm too busy rushing around looking for collectibles, because I don't want my overcharge to run out
- the black woman from the trailers is an awful garbage character which is really unfortunate because it means we get to listen to people complain about muh sjws instead of just addressing the fact that she's a lame character
- bj tries to use the term "white ass" at some point after meeting her and you can hear the hesitation in his voice, it's funny as fuck
- they're once again nailing the juxtaposing shooting nazis in retarded over the top fps gmaeplay with serious blazkowitz commentary
- you get the power suit from tno and it lets you do a neat goomba stomp thing that i haven't used too much but i'm like 3 hours in or some shit
- the weapon upgrade system is a welcome addition, it rewards exploration and the upgrades are actually significant
- still not a fan of the overcharge system because of the above point where i get hyperfocused on my health for no reason
- the perk system is still meh, but it has more upgrades now and imo it's better

super fucking glad i picked it up, if you enjoyed tno you'll want this

It's alright, it's a lot more arcadey and less simulationist than Frontier was, but I guess that's for the sake of making things multiplayer where you can't have things like "oh it's literally going to take you a week to fly across this system at sublight speeds, here's a time-acceleration button"

there's a whole lot of new stuff that just came out with spooky aliens to play with, but it does suffer a bit from "anything vaguely interesting or puzzle-like is set up so it'll provide a challenge for the turbo-autists on digg to figure out, which makes it completely incomprehensible to anyone who's not a total lorefag that's been playing since release". It'd be nice to have something in between "just go here and do this" and "you literally need to google up a fucking guide to figure this shit out because it's literally not possible for one person to gather all the information needed to complete this". Like they put some really clever shit with alien bases and artefacts that just turned to point in a direction and you could use it to triangulate the locations of other alien bases but good fucking luck doing that without crazy autism tools and mass collaboration with huge numbers of other players

if you wanna just fly around and blow shit up or just get some comfy space sightseeing done though it's pretty fun

I read that the resident autist just go data mining in the game folder everytime there is an update and that's how the super secret locations get found within a hour after a patch.

But you're free to believe they're using triangulation and star positions in the skybox of a low-res promo screenshot to pinpoint a planet out of billions of star systems.

Really left a bad taste in my mouth. I'm too used to shyamalanian twists in modern games that I start looking for shit that isn't there in older ones. Also me opening the thing was just the shit nugget on the cake that was the last fight, which either bugged out or had the final opponent always use the same move and in which the "trick" was immediately highlighted to me.

I just feel hollow every time I listen to that great ending song, like everything I did in my playthrough was undone by those last 10 minutes.

Been playing Rimworld but haven't done the SS13 let's play thing yet since they just released the testing build of A18, so I'm probably going to wait for the official A18 build to come out before starting. The thing is that it will probably break all my mods, which will probably delay it even further.
