Yeah if Jason goes all in on being a tryhard the game sucks. It's way too easy for him to nab someone once and then do a free-standing kill. We have a simple house-rule that Jason cant do his grab kills until he is raging (environmentals only until then) and he's still able to wipe the counselors but its a lot more fun and varied.

I got that thing where you play as that C list Walking Dead actor and deliver things in Iceland but I had to go to bed because my eyes were sore. I was at the part where you take your mum out for a walk and she can't stop rocking the litter. Kojima's dialogue and writing is still agonising and so far the gameplay is walking and occasionally holding both the triggers to stop the shitty stumble animation from playing. The worldbuilding and design though, as usual, are second to none. I loved that big orange oil rig as a location in MGS2 (it still looks modern to me) and I'm a big fan of all the plastic and tinfoil bullshit you deal with in this one. I wish Kojima would just realise he can't write for shit and after coming up with the outline give it to a team of professional grade writers. It's not like he can't afford it. The Resident Evil remakes were surprising for the quality of their writing, especially for Japanese games which are usually at the level of the average anime (which is to say middle school student with autism tier). You can easily compare the original Resident Evils to see how bad they used to be. So there are definitely people in Japan who know what human beings are like. I find it hard to believe that while working with Guillermo Del Toro, the hack Refn and the guy who whips James Bond's ballsack in Casino Royale that none of them said to him "You're a cringy fucking hack who writes like a middle schooler with autism and I'm embarrassed to have to deliver these lines for you," or offer to rewrite them. As you know, the actors in the original trilogy were rewriting their lines because as the prequels showed us George Lucas can't write and it made those mediocre films better. There are plenty of other examples of actors punching up their lines or giving feedback to writers too that resulted in a better product. Maybe that did happen on this. If it did, it doesn't show. Also I hate babies. I don't like the idea of keeping a baby in a bottle of amniotic fluid that inevitably breaks and causes the baby to slap sickeningly into the pavement but I also don't want to see a baby ever or have the game imply I'm supposed to find it cute. They're disgusting. Why couldn't the companion BB be a dog like DD from TPP or something. I will obviously be amazed by Kojima's writerly prowess after it's revealed how it ties into one of the overall themes of the plot and that it couldn't not be a baby just like Quiet couldn't not show tits in the other one

Giving Kojima's scripts to other writers would trivialize them. You dont play a Kojima game to watch a Hollywood movie, you play it to experience how aliens would struggle to write a story about humans.

Playing Death Stranding made Monster Emergy Drinks start appearing in my house. For a little whileI wasdrinking them but managed to cut that programming out after I stopped playing the game for a bit.

I've been playing a lot of Death Stranding. Everything outside the cutscenes is good. My most recent delivery ended up getting stuck in the middle of a creek so I decided to test photo mode:

I’ve also been trying out a lot of underground smaller games, mostly horror, just trying to find some sort of diamond in the rough. So far the only semi good ones I’ve found are (visually) low quality atmospheric horror games, which look terrible but in a way that complements the game.

Rimworld is good. The only genuinely scary games have primitive otherworldly graphics imo

I feel as if horror games should be all or nothing, graphics wise. Most of them are in the middle, with decent graphics, which just take me out of the mood. My computer can’t handle the really good looking ones, so I have to content myself with the low quality stuff. It doesn’t scare me in the traditional sense, really I just have a fascination for them because they’re like another world.

Have you played White Day: A Labyrinth Named School? Don't get the steam version, there's a free version on their website iirc. Free version uses simpler graphics too, so that should help. It's korean, but there's an english patch somewhere, and the game has really well done horror. Darkwood's really good but I imagine you've heard about it at this point. Pathologic 2 was one of my favorite games last year, but it's not a horror game in the sense it's trying to spook you around the clock. Aside from those there's rpgmaker horror games but those are a mixed bag if you are the sort to enjoy those in the first place, but I can recommend a few if you want to try out one.

For me? What I thought was stupid was that Joel and Tommy went around telling strangers their real names and their relationship after everything they'd done. The Fireflies aren't the only people who they did terrible things to. I totally buy that she could get a positive ID on them based on what they'd told her given their ages and their proximity to Jackson. Tommy used to be a Firefly so it's likely Abby knew about him and his relationship to Joel. It would've been a hell of a coincidence if she came across two brothers with those names the right age near Jackson who weren't who she was looking for. When she says Joel Miller to him after shooting him he doesn't deny it either.

Depending on size of your fleet go to Sindria and visit bars hoping for some half-free Lobsters to sell someplace/ take some Pirate station as soon as bounty pops up (they tend to be fairly easy, especially when they still have only one part done) /trade some mass commodities like fuel or food, they tend to be fairly cheap in some markets.

Aside from that, giving Outer Wilds a chance now that it's on Steam and to my great shame the old group convinced me to do Destiny 2 raids again.

Honestly what bothers me the most in Starsector is that you can be King Bigwig with a giant fleet but you can't delegate shit to subordinates. Bothers me a bit.

Darkest Dungeon:
I am killing my fourth boss. My one level five hero would not go because it was too ez while the rest of my roster are level 4 or less. I don't think I've entered a dungeon over level 2 at this point. Been too afraid of losing more heroes and concentrating on levelling more cautiously than I did at first. One hero, Big Gay Al the Crusader (e.g. religious zealot) came back from the grave after his whole party wiped first excursion; He is level 4 now and kool + tuff

RE3make:
Trying to get S rank on hardcore and the no item box achievement but it's tough titty. Forget where I left off actually it was as Carlos at the police station from 2. I was struggling doing a no health item achievement run but dropped that (better done on handicapable difficulty) and now it's swiggins

KHIII:
Making myself finish she. I'm no longer 12 so the story is shit and they butchered the fun of the gameplay with the press Triangle to win while the game plays itself Disney Parks crosspromotions. I hope as the challenge increases I learn to love it because the combat in the first two was hard and addicting. I didn't pick the hardest difficulty for this and I don't think you can change it. As it is the combat feels tedious but not difficult or requiring skill. Just whack away with X until you can press Triangle to watch a cutscene then control a Disneyland ride and do that repeatdly until you wittle away the guy's several health bars.

God of War:
Being dad of war is not easy. The technology, writing and acting are impressive. Nice set pieces. The combat mechanics, father and son dress system and skill system are sort of overwhelming though. I'm new to the series and it feels tacked on from previous games. Like you would've learnt the mechanics in an additive way in the earlier ones which I'm not gonna bother with. Still, I will learn.

CTR NF:
I got 100% in CTR for the first time today! Had the original as a kid and never thought I could. To fully complete it though you need to get all platinum relics and I'm not sure what else (beat developer times?) which isn't easy. Not sure if I'll continue with it or not. I would like to buy Spyro from the Pit Stop but haven't gotten the chance yet.

Spider-Man:
Combat is really fun. Writing is good, seems well-researched too. You can be Man of Spiders and merely Man. You feel like Peter Parker with the way the game flows from mission to mission continuously over the course of days juggling plot threads through phone calls and voice mail and Peter's monologue. Makes it feel more like an unbroken experience and less like a movie showing snippets of each of the character's lives. That said you do play as multiple people.

Original RE2:
Big fan of rewind in RetroArch. Wouldn't have the patience without cheating. Game looks great rendering at 16x with the various settings turned up and then enabling supersampling so everything renders at the native resolution. It's pixelated in a way that fits the low res 2D backgrounds but with much better detail than the PS1's native output.

SS13:
I instead came here to complain about the replacement of the core R&D console in the R&D lab with the production only one. The real game is the metagame.

For Patho 2 depending on the districts you can ride out their edge where sometimes you're out of infected miasma. If you have a past save might be worth going back a day, rushing what you need to do and then spend a few hours frolicking in the fields for tinctures, which I ended up doing a fair bit.

Bug fables is a very good game. Very similar to paper mario but has a richer story and better combat. The story and lore behind it is very satisfying too.

Based, I 100%ed it on hard mode on my first play through and it was a blast. If you're not already doing hard mode you should

I did hard mode from the start because screw it. Did the whole game with the hard mode medal. Had to redo bosses tons of times but better than just breezing through.

I managed to get out of that death loop with a protective cloak, leather boots and leather gloves. Then it was hunger and exhaustion. Slept for a couple of hours at the lair and beat the hunger at the shady shop. There aren't any Patrolmen anymore to trade lockpicks for bread with and you can't trade with the soldiers. Now a steppe kid has delivered me a message from Oyun. I think my needs are met enough to at least meet him. Forget where I last saved though.

Oyun's design reminds me of Volgin from MGS3.

Oyun is a big lad but you probably have the hardest day ahead of you. Stock up on health items and if you have a gun, ammo.

I got Fall Guys but it had constant lagspikes so I refunded it. Didn't like how steep the odds were or the whole mobile game unlock treadmill with optional in-game currency purchases to skip it either especially when the unlocks are purely cosmetic and the game costs 25 Monopoly money to play. I'm glad someone's succeeding at it though. I'm fairly certain it'll become free to play after currency sales take off.

  I finally escaped Olonngo. I didn't realise you could get Menkhu's Finger there which makes things easier. Her monthly blood is what I win.
  The whole sequence and the revelations from talking to Oyun at the end of it was intense. I'd really like to get into 1 because it seems like there's more explained in it than in 2 with the characters' diaries and obviously the other two routes.

  It's a Unity game that's more like a tech demo at the moment but the skating mechanics are all there and it's pretty satisfying when you pull off a trick. It requires a controller and has a slightly steeper learning curve than Tony Hawk's because of the reliance on the sticks to control your feet and perform tricks. The soundtrack is great.

I still haven't managed to finish Hardcore with an S rank (under 1:45:00) or finish Nightmare after how hard the final Nemesis fight becomes. Even cheesing it with item store bullshit (which I initially tried to avoid using but ultimately decided wasn't worth the agony) he can just chainstun you to death.

Never managed to get into Civ. Haven't played 6. I am going to add it to my enormous list of games I'd like to play.

You get so much free currency in Fall Guys that you'll never need to buy any. You do only get 3 crowns max per season by leveling the pass (which is entirely free to everyone), so if you suck, no cosmetics that cost crowns for you.

Team modes are also retarded. Yeah, real fun getting far only to lose because I got stuck with a bunch of glue eaters.
