Warhammer Total War

Anybody else playing this?
Been jamming the 2 player coop campaign with a mate as the dorfs (we got a mod to let us pick any of the dorf factions) and it's a fucking blast, it helps that dorfs are properly robust and the axe line will eat any number of charges while your gun/quarreler lines sweep the enemy.

I've had awesome success with engaging enemy units with axemen, then positioning thunderer units in a line along the flank of the engagment and just firing into the side of the melee! Their units just melt away under the fire.

We just wrapped up a dorf reverse waagh on all the orc bases as in our first test campaign I got rekt by Grimgor Ironhide and his waagh (two 20 unit armies moving together) showing up when I least expected it. Then I followed this feat up by slapping the vampire counts into the ground as it's annoying when they spread vampire corruption.

The only downside is I need to find a nice human dude to beat up and vassalize so I can get them to take over all the empty space left behind (can't capture human bases as dorf faction)

Plus chaos just showed up, so I've got a couple of armies out that way, stacked full of highly promoted armour piercing thunderer gunlines. Eat hot lead you stinking chaos demons

The Orc mechanics are cool as shit. I had a bunch of tiny stacks around the map in various places setting up siege camps and I was gaining like a billion gold. After that I just doomstacked people with a shitton of Orc boyz and won with orc wave tactics.

Something else I learned is the fightiness levels are really abusable. I had a bunch of hero stacks running with each other all on incredibly high fightiness and our numbers were more than tripled by there being a bunch of AI Orc doomstacks following along behind us. It was very easy to keep the fightiness up to keep the AI orcs hanging around and it was just a big snowball from there.

Game looks neat but I'll wait for a sale since I'm no die hard fan.

Skaven when though?

A lot of the races are coming as DLC, which kinda sucks but eh I love the game anyway.

@Cosmic, because they're not limited by the "historical" realism of the previous series most civilizations have specialised building chains. I don't recall exactly if the upgrades "double" every level, but they still have the limited building slot/upgrade mechanic.

I got this from a friend; I'm not normally a TW guy. I've been playing as the Vampire Counts which are fun AF. Everybody has a huge-ass Aversion to you, so your diplomatic options are pretty much limited to spreading Corruption, but you can recruit units on the go using Raise Dead, and vampire magic kicks ASS. You can zap an almost-dead unit back to fighting trim, and drop giant purple energy balls at extremely long range that fuck shit up.

You really have to take advantage of your generals and heroes, though, since you have no missile units and by extension no range options at all other than magic. This can really fuck you over when the Winds of Magic aren't behaving as you'd like.

Makes sense. VC in the tabletop are the most topheavy army in the game. They have literally the strongest commanders possible and if your main leader dies you lose the game.

How does this compare to Shogun 2?

You play this and Shogun 2 for different reasons. This is Warhammer, if you like Warhammer pick it up because it's pretty faithfully done.
