Valenwood would be a cool place for a TES game, the elves live in giant moving trees which are p cool. Could open up a lot of options for adding some verticality to the game. I've heard rumors of it being in Valenwood for a long time, though, as well as rumors that it's in Elseweyr.

Personally I hope it takes place in Akavir, since the hero of Morrowind went there after the events of that game, according to the canon.

New David Cage game(?) looks good. If it's not him, it's in his style. Looks interesting.
The trailer didn't give a name but I think it's the Detroit game they talked about before.

Resident Evil VII trailer looked genuinely fucking terrifying. Capcom saw everyone talking about PT, saw Konami fuck everything up, and decided "We can do that."

Horizons looks really interesting too.

Damn Sony just went ham on showing really interesting and good looking games. They fucking did it again.

Don't really care for 1,000,000 VR EDITION ports of other properties but I didn't plan on buying Sony VR anyway.

I really enjoyed the "show, don't tell" approach Sony took this year, especially after Ubisoft just went on and on and on. Hideo Kojima with Dead "what did i just watch" Stranding was the cherry on top.

Overall, so far this E3 is... Well, not spectacular but not really bad either? Nothing that really blows my mind but at least nothing extremely embarrassing, except for maybe EA Games with their celebrities. Ubisoft kept most of their usual cringe limited to Trials Of The Blood Dragon and at least there it fits with the over-the-top theme of Blood Dragon.

I cannot wait for Nintendo to not shed any light on the NX again, and for Square Enix to show another gameplay trailer of a boss battle in FFXV played by someone who has the hand-eye coordination of a cold taco.

Because WWI is rarely touched in vidya gaems by mainstream developers so they can easily reskin BF4 and pretend they're making something unique because a couple of aspects here and there vaguely look like WWI. That's my guess anyway.

I'm enthusiastic. I'm playing through the first game again no alerts/kills. I really hope they don't mess up and make the game's ending completely different based on some goofball morality system again.

The game is at its best when you're killing everything. The combat is very finely tuned and you have a lot of really cool things you can do and combinations of things to try out. Stop time when someone shoots a gun at you, possess them, walk them in front of their own bullet, and then release them. Teleport all over the fucking place slashing the shit out of everyone. Etc. etc.

That the game then turns around and says "Shame on you! Here's all the worst endings and dialog because you're a horrible murderer boo hoo hoo!" is the worst fucking story choice ever. It's like one guy made a great game and then someone else got jealous and decided to try to make you not want to play it.

...and the stealth sucks. The movement through the environments is great but the stealth sucks. The distance people will see you at is kinda wonky. You can hide in shadows but only from a distance away. That distance is also wonky. You are often times just repeating sections over and over until you know where everyone is, then running a perfect line through it than sneaking around...because your ability to see people through walls is super limited and people spot you so fast it's easier to just sprint through the level blinking all over the place and getting caught over and over until you find the right route than it is to actually try to be sneaky. The environments are full of really open and expansive sections that are fun to teleport all over the place and climb all over no sweat. Then there is a blind bottleneck that you just have to quicksave and try to walk through and see if you were unlucky and some dude was standing around the corner staring at the doorway, too far for you to see him with darkvision but close enough for him to spot you. GG.

So I'm excited for Dishonored 2 but it has a bit of work cut out for itself if it wants to try to be perfect. It needs to stop trying to shame the player for using the combat system or make the stealth systems work in a way that is as fluid as the combat.

The moralfaggotry in Dishonored is probably the worst of any game I've ever played, if you stop and think about it.

1) It's wrong to kill people who murdered the love of your life, mother of your daughter, and framed you for it (nearly getting away with it). It's also wrong to

This is bullshit. I don't think it's possible to wave a finger at someone in that situation and say "but killing is wrong!". It's a quest for vengeance, but all that vengeance is justified. These people are murderers and political saboteurs. They're the worst of the worst.

2) There's no such thing as a fate worse than death. At least according to Dishonored. Shipping a woman away to live in captivity with a man who loves her (but it's implied she doesn't like him at all) is basically a lifetime rape sentence. You do that to someone and it's considered a plus. It's the "good end". Spending the rest of your life getting sexually assaulted by your kidnapper vs. relatively painless death. Cutting two dudes tongue's out and then shipping them off to work themselves to death as slaves in some mines. That is better than just being murdered? Like...what the fuck? How is this any less vengeful than just killing people? This isn't really justice either, you're still not sending anyone off to a proper trial and exposure in front of their peers/society. It's just weird alternative torture instead of a quick death...yet it makes all the difference between your daughter calling you Daddy or thinking you're some kind of ninja sociopath.

Dishonered overall just feels like some designers sat down and came up with some really solid ideas. "Let's combine Thief and Assassins Creed!." "Let's add magic stuff so you can have cool moves!" "Whalepunk!" "First person sword fights!"

And it was good. But then they needed some more plot and a story and they connected with some really grimy self-important writer who didn't care about the gameplay at all, saw the game, turned their nose up at gamers and spun up this whole story about how killing is always wrong and makes you the bad guy and the world is worse for it no matter what blah blah blah.

It's really plain and simple, to sum it all up:

Don't make a game about stabbing people, where the stabbing people part is really good and satisfying and obviously has a lot of care put into it...don't make a game like that and then turn around and make the story of that game "DONT KILL PEOPLE VIOLENCE IS BAD."

Actually there are parts in the game where you get blamed for killing people if you don't get involved and save everyone. Like doing nothing somehow counts as you murdering people. Some people say it's a glitch but there's no proof that it's not working as intended.

Also if you get spotted your alternatives are really only:
A) Kill the guy
B) Run away like a pussy

The only weapon you have that can knock someone out once the fight has begun is your sleep darts for your crossbow, and they don't work on people who have been alerted to you unless you spend a bunch of money to upgrade them. Even if you do, you can only carry around 10 at most.

MGSV and Deus Ex both encourage you to beat them without killing people. Neither really penalize your gameplay or give you bad endings if you don't. Both games have fun alternatives to murdering people in combat: MGSV has all kinds of CQC techniques and stun weapons. Deus EX has non-lethal takedowns and a bunch of stun weapons as well.

Dishonored doesn't. If you aren't sneaking up on someone from behind and choking them or darting them unseen with one of your very-limited tranq darts...you don't play the game. If you get spotted, you prettymuch have to run away from everything because otherwise you're a horrible person for fighting.

EDIT: I forgot probably the greatest example of how fucking backwards this whole morality thing is

There's a part of the game where, if you're going for the "no kills" playthrough, you have to trigger something to happen and then IMMEDIATELY freeze time and RUN THE FUCK OUT OF THE AREA AS FAST AS YOU CAN. If you don't run away fast enough two characters get in a fight and one of them kills the other.

This counts as a murder for you, somehow. BUT if you just don't look directly into the violence and run like a motherfucker your virginity is protected and you can go on with the game.

Other than the really flat acting and characters, the crazy-man morality was the worst part of Dishonored. "Murder is wrong, but sending people to become slaves in the hell mines is a-ok!" Heck I think one of the people gets sent off to be a plaything of a perverse rapist.
