Ha, who thought that was true. What you saw some 60's and your brain instantly thought Bioshlock? Funny guy, funny funny.

Shame it had to become another crafting/survival adventure in the ever increasing pile of crafting/survival games.
What is bioshock supposed to be? I never played the games but all I hear is pure capitalism underwater society, superpower drugs that mess you up in the head and then some weird Vatican city in the clouds that wants to bomb land bound cities into ashes (because 20th century countries couldn't take on a 20th century fantasy city state that is heavily reliant on not falling out of the sky). Also something about the first one having an okay story that probably supersedes most modern games whilst the last one won the award for pretentious story of the month. I don't know, all I know is infinite universe hopping makes everything very meaningless and I'm being very judgemental over things I know nothing about/am not the target audience for.

Bioshock is a story about a rich guy that doesn't like paying taxes so he builds a city underwater that's all about making that dough without silly things such as ethics and liability. Another rich guy who may be some kind of crime boss funds a German science lady for her plasmid project while at the same time appealing to the lower classes (because even in your underwater paradise you need people to do manual labor.) with shelter and orphanages in order to take over the city. Eventually the 1st rich guy catches on and gets rid of him in some civil war conflict that turns the city into the shithole that the player gets to see.

Yeah. In We Happy Few it's a shithole all along and people take drugs to make it look better

Kinda like Russia.

In bioshit two, after the death of the two wacky capitalists, a wacky socialist kidnaps your daughter in an attempt to wipe her personality and make her a commie ubermensch with no sense of self dedicated to helping the society of drug addicted mutants. To achieve this goal, she gives them more drugs and turns them into a cult dedicated to communism and murdering you.

in bioshit infinite, you learn that the previous games do not matter at all, the.only thing that matters is Ken levines waifu, who he retcons into your daughter so no one can ship her with the player character so she remains pure. She is the lynchpin of the universe and nothing else matters but her smiles

I take it he hasn't actually seen what the internet does to father-daughter relationships then

Took a look at this on a youtube vid

They really fucked up. They had such a neat concept, and it ended up just being survival crafting adventure #623
Yawn

They could have ditched the whole hunger and thirst thing and just focused around the drug.
For example, once you take the drug enough you're addicted and start going through withdrawals if you don't take it, which start off minor but can become lethal if you go too long without them (like your character goes into delirium tremens). The more you take, the more your tolerance grows. The more your tolerance grows, the more you need to take to maintain. Use too much though, and you OD. Could have it so the popo are more likely to notice you if you're going through withdrawals too since you're definitely not going to be a happy camper.
Makes the focus of survival more about knowing when and where to take the drug to avoid detection while at the same time preventing addiction and if you become addicted turns the game into a tense race against the clock before your addiction takes you spiraling down the drain instead of 420 craft food water fast survival game #9432
(because 20th century countries couldn't take on a 20th century fantasy city state that is heavily reliant on not falling out of the sky)
To be fair that floating city state has weapon technology far superior to anything any other country had available in 1912. I mean this is the city state that built an extremely fast and nearly indestructible giant robot bird that can easily rip through thick steel plate like wet tissue. Plus when you get to see them invading they've got thousands and thousands of giant flying warships. There's also the fact that their infantry have access to assault rifles, portable rocket launchers, power armor, heavily armored and juice that gives them special powers not to mention big ass mutants and heavily armored robots wielding hand held miniguns while the rest of the world is using shit like bolt action rifles, mounted machine guns, and maybe very early SMG models.

Spoiler:
Columbia's only major self-developed technologies are the devices that keep buildings afloat and the ability to create portals. Most other technology was stolen through those portals from other places and time period. That includes Rapture in the 1950s. Songbird is based on the Big Daddies (Burial at Sea even pulls a double reach-around by having Songbird provide the missing step in binding Big Daddies to their Little Sisters), Vigors and Salt are nothing more than Plasmids and EVE made from the very same ADAM that were made drinkable by adding an oxidizer.

In the timeline where Booker didn't save Elizabeth and she became the new leader, Columbia doesn't commence full-scale war until decades after 1912 but by that time they probably obtained weapon technology from the distant future, beyond what we have even now.

That wouldn't work because the central plot of the game is your character has been taking joy for ages and now is suddenly stopping. Lethal withdrawal would mean downers couldn't exist.

Would have still been better if the focus was less on 'find food and water to survive', and more on 'find food and water without joy in it because they put that shit in everything'

Less berry picking for hours to eat, more sneaking into bakeries and stealing flour to bake your own/fucking with the recipe to make tomorrow's batch of bread safe to eat for you. And Alex Jones water filters. Because the reptilia- I mean 'happy people' have poisoned your water
As it is, from everything I've seen of it, it's literally just 'gather berries and do quests for the insane because ???? simulator'. They had neat concepts but they pretty much just haven't done that much with it

Played it a little, made it five days just going around beating people to death with sticks and robbing houses. Occasionally there's a few random encounters but it's all very lifeless.
