Pokemon GO will likely be looked back on as a watershed moment for augmented-reality because it motivated a bunch of shut in autists to go outside and cause traffic accidents.

I'm looking forward to all the people that wander into fatalities because of this and I will thank this game for each and every one of them. Pokemon is a game about evolving monsters, but Pokemon Go is helping the greatest monsters of all to better evolve.

In two weeks nobody will give a shit because they'll have exhausted everything there is to do with it. It was the same thing with Ingress. The only people who stick with it are people with really boring careers that work the routine of clicking on all the stuff into their daily commutes. Just like Ingress.

Like...remember Miitomo? Everywhere for one week and then suddenly disappeared?

Other than getting caught and leaving a perfect log of their activity with Niantic, sure.

I have not installed it yet because I like having battery on my phone, but it's been pretty nostalgic/vaguely heartwarming to pass all kinds of people in the streets playing it. Feels like being a little kid again when pokemon was the biggest thing ever.

You can play the US version using a US itunes account or by just downloading the android apk file.

For us NEET Android lot, we can set "Allow Mock Locations" in our Android phone's developer options, then use a mock location app to feed Pokémon Go false GPS data. That way, none of us have to go outside and get run over, robbed, chased by murderers, search dangerous and deserted spots, kidnapped, or put up with large crowds!
