Praise fucking BEEZUS my dudes the best bug smashing four player co-op game finally came to the platform it deserves. EDF is a fucking riduclous mega monster movie where you and your bro's run around fighting all kinds of shit all at once. UFO's dropping giant spiders all over the city while a bunch of mecha slug it out with a Godzilla knock-off is just another day in the life of EDF.

The last game from the franchise to come out on PC is regarded as the worst by many, but this one is reported to be the best of the bunch.

The game features four different classes you can play as depending on how you want to fuck up them bugs. There's a flying unit that uses melee weapons if you want to be a dex fag. There's the generic trooper who specializes in all kinds of high-explosives. The engineer is the tactical deployables guy, and then there's a heavy armor unit for people who just want DAKKA.

There's a bunch of vehicles and shit you can drive or fly as well as some mecha and other random shit you get to pilot too. Want to jump into a mecha and fistfight godzilla pacific rim style? You can do that.

I'm a fan of the Fencer class. Jacked up power-armor with gigantic rotary cannons is my shit. It has some really effective long-range shelling options as well.

For maximum fun though I think the Ranger and Air Raider are probably top-tier. The ranger has access to a lot of cool rocket launchers and other city-destroying tech while the Air Raider gets all the vehicles and stuff.

I've never been a big fan of the Wing Diver because of how fucking fragile they are. Every time I ever saw someone try to use one they were just fucking useless and died a lot.

Hold off if you have an older processor. The game uses the SSE 4.1 instruction set, which older CPU's like the Phenom II x4 don't have. It's the same issue that Phantom Pain had on launch, so hopefully they can fix it just as fast as Konami did.

played this with my buddy for a few hours last night and it's pretty fucking fun
the air raider mechs are incredibly fun to use
we did nothing but scream EDF at eachother for like 4 hours

Fencer with two hand cannons is pretty damn good. All the melee weapons for that class are rad too. Using a gigantic hammer to send shockwaves through hordes of bugs is cool.

Air Raider is OP though, holy shit. The vehicles are really good, and you can keep calling them in when they run out of ammo as long as you are killing tons of shit (which you will do if you have a vehicle). Even his basic gun, the Limpet Grenade or whatever, is reeeeeeeeeally good.

Everything is fun though. I played some Wing Diver and I like the way you have to balance your flight power against energy consumption. It's a fun mechanic. The basic Ranger is actually super stronk too in his basic weaponry and gives you that feeling of being just a dude fighting an overwhelming horde of bugs.

The sheer weapon variety in this game is worth the price of admission.

Four classes, each with a ton of unlockables gives you a fucking TON of ways to mutilate bugs.
Also the game has five difficulties, each difficulty has it's own range of weapons that drop during missions, so there's some replayability there.

There's some stuff that is even co-op only, eg. as Fencer I have a bunch of shoulder mounted missiles that do insane damage but I can't fire them if I don't have an Air Raider there marking targets for me.

I'm having a blast running around as a heavy armor trooper with a giant vibro-hatchet/scythe and a shoulder mounted twin-barrel cannon just mutilating THEM BUGS.

Holy shit I found a missile pod that locks up to 10 FILTHY INSECTS at once and nukes them off GOD'S GLORIOUS EARTH.

If I equip two at once and alternate firing them it's like I'm really the United Nation's military firing missile strikes into civilian areas.

Already tried the copy on piratebay. Just crashes to the desktop as soon as I try to launch the first mission.

Scratch that, just had to download a fan made patch since I'm using a Phenom II. It's simple but still great. Trying to get the hang of the air raider class, specifically artillery grenades. There's something a little embarassing about throwing a grenade a bit short and pretty much wiping out a platoon of EDF troops

Yeah it's actually pretty difficult. Those ants will fuck you up if they can grab you and the game doesn't shy away from throwing more guys than you think you'll ever be able to handle at once.

The game is not just effortlessly mowing down hordes of bugs like cookie clicker or some shit.
