You want Mount and Blade Online? Well you got it (soon).

Of Kings and Men is a Mass Multiplayer game that can hold over 200 people on a single server. Combat is third-person and consists of directional strikes, blocking, and parrying. The game consists of a round, which is full of several stages, and the leaders of each faction ordering battles on overworld maps like in Mount and Blade. What's interesting is that while many go and fight on the battlefield, some stay back as masons and stuff, building up the towns. Once the game is over everything resets, you get points to use on cosmetics and stuff. There will be a persistent mode where the world never ends, and new players can join large factions from the start to avoid KOS boredom. However, in that mode you can go solo with friends if you want.

It will also feature full modding tools that will allow an overhaul of the game should someone take the time to do that. Source: forum.ofkingsandmen.net/index.php?topic=197.0

I'm interested in the concept. Sounds a lot like kingdom come: deliverance tho. I'll look more into it when I have some free time

Warband could hold 200 people in one server though.

This isn't anything new, the guys who made this made cRPG for Warband but decided to move to a new engine, this is just a spiritual successor. It was a good mod imo, I played like 3k hours of it lmao. Kinda became shit as it went on though and the community is actually retarded. Like it would make fucking vorestation look like a sane place it's that retarded.

The combat looks like it could a lot more oomph which was one of the problems I had with M&B. Seems like they could take a few pointers from Chivalry where there's a huge sense of power both while you're swinging and when you hit someone or get hit

Horses aren't in yet but yeah you can wear and use whatever you want as there's no classes. In the gameplay vid I posted there's a guy running around naked to move faster and he wrecks people.

In WotR at the high-tier of skill people would wear all cloth and wield either rapiers, sabers, longswords or THE BEATSTICK and style all over everyone else.

Your platemail and greatsword don't mean shit when I'm going Donatello on your ass and the Vanilla Ice kicks in.

If I can relive the dream of beating the shit out of dudes while in LITTLE JOHN MODE I'm interested.
George Silver (1599) explains techniques of short staff combat, and states that the use of other polearms and the two-handed sword are based on the same method. Later authors on the subject included Joseph Swetnam, Zachary Wylde, and Donald McBane. Silver,[5] Swetnam,[3] and Wylde[6] all agreed that the staff was among the best, if not the very best, of all hand weapons.

Early access starts the 25th this month on Steam of course. You can register on their forum and download the current version free but only bots as no playtests are going on.

What's nice is they didn't pull a squad and price it at $40, but $25. Will help with that 200 player cap.

Can confirm Crag is a red-level threat whenever slings are involved, Chivalry taught me that.

Because the AI is shit and not a challenge at all anyway

Any idiot can slaughter entire armies in single player M&B, and that's no fun

I won a 1v6 Yesterday in the last cap zone. They all formed up around me. I held my blade up to block a few then parried and riposted. Unlike in Chivalry, getting attacked by more than 1 person isn't an outright execution. This game can feel so good once you learn how to fight.

Audio is off in a few places but some fighting against pubbies.
