It's easier to aim by putting a dot on target than aligning rear and front sights.

A lot of time red dot sights improve downward visibility and less obstructive than iron sights on certain guns like the M-16. Seriously fuck M-16 iron sights. But I stick to iron sights on guns that have nice ones like almost all AK's, with some exceptions.

It's a great scope for gaming because just a non obstructing dot that you point at whatever you are trying to pewpew.

It's also a very ergonomic scope in RL, you get a sight picture extremely fast because the sight compensates small errors in allignment itself.


ACOG however is almost always shit in gaming because it obstructs most of your screen, it's however pretty much the default sight for many army units IRL.

In video games yeah dot sights usually beat irons.

IRL irons aren't nearly as bad. M16/M14/M1 peep sights are actually good.

I have never held a M-16 so I wouldn't know how they are in real life. But my big issues with the M-16's iron sights in most games is the bars on either side of the rear part of the sight and the large knob on the right which blocks off view. It kind of feels like they wanted to focus the shooter for longer range shooting without putting a scope on it. M-14 and M-1 iron sights have always been fantastic for me even if I prefer the more open AK style.

That's because the games shove the model in your face. IRL your wide vision with 1 eye won't give you that issue.

I use red dot instead of eotech because it gives u a wider frame of view when aiming down da site

Well, yeah, sure.
I use red dots because they're pretty decent on the short-range bolt action rifles, if you also have a silencer.

Red dots are good in ARMA if you're fighting in close quarters.

red dot sights are good in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare until you can get the Hybrid Sight
the hybrid sight is a red dot sight but it can also zoom 4x if you want
