Bottom post of the previous page:

The only thing really left to do is uniform styles. To be honest, I like the Cadian pattern styles. It's very utilitarian, the Catachan, Praetorians and Volstarik styles seem a bit too gimmick-y to me in all honesty. For comparison:

Also I've already commited myself to being the sawbones An0n3. I'd do sergeant/commisar otherwise.

I would definitely be down for playing a commissar if thats still on the table.

As far as uniforms go given that we are a siege regiment I think that something akin to late western front WW1 British uniforms would be neat, possibly replacing the tunic with a trench coat for max edge.

Looking good folks.

Owegno a commisar would be just fine, basically any squad that has a comissar has a regular Sargent too so you wont be stepping on any toes. It will be your job to keep disapline and squad morale while DnB's sarge is more concerned with unit tactics.

Gonna do a write up of our regiment's shit but it seems like it is coming together nicely

Sawrge what heavy weapon do you want?

Ausops and Danno what do you want for the regiment's favored basic weapon? (assuming galv doesnt care because >shotgun)

Added XP purchases and equipment to my sheet. Die-hard and die-hards existing at the same time is confusing as fuck.

Grenade launchers being regimental favored basic weapons is fine by me, tbh I want one, but my weapon talents don't have launcher so I'll have to stick with a lasgun. My guy already has a bunch of grenades anyway.

I think sawrge switched to heavy weapons guy so he no longer has that as a preference unless he has since changed it. Also everyone who has joined the roll20 and also given me their character name now has a character sheet on the roll20, probably a bit easier to track everything there

Looks like you figured out how to add it yourself, i reccomend everyone else grab a piece of charart even if it is just a placeholder, the rulebooks have lots of good art. It really helps to distinguish the textchat when everyone has a unique character

Alright so here is the deal

You shitters are "from" the planet Kiavus IV, a sort of strange Hive world on the coreward edge of the Calixis sector. Like most Hive worlds, it likely started as a manufatorum world but literal thousands of years of constant production and expansion has reduced what remains of the surface into a toxic polluted shithole and the rest of the plant is covered with massive anthill like supercities that scrap the tip of the atmosphere and extend down into the planet's crust.

What is interesting about Kiavus IV is that after some very ancient civil unrest and mild revolt a few thousands years ago, one of the hives was turned into a massive megaprison. All manner of criminal scum, both from the other hives on the planet and shipped in from nearby worlds on massive prison ships toil endlessly in massive slave-factories under the yoke of brutal and sadistic wardens. There is an easy alternative though for those with the mettle to take it. Join the Penal Legions! Repent for your sins and crimes against humanity and the Emperor by dying a glorious death in his service and defending the human race! Many volunteer to simply escape the endless toil and hardship, but masses are often drafted in order to meet planetary tithes, creating a deadly and unpredictable fighting force of the worst criminals to not get killed outright.

Your characters, by some measure of Imperial "justice" as it exists, were imprisoned on Kiavus and either volunteered or got drafted into the Penal Legion under the Kiavus 60th Penal Legion. Together you served on some world or another on the spinward front, battling Orks of Waaaaghhh Grimtoof and Imperial Separatists of the Severan Dominate. Penal Legionaires are considered expendable even by Imperial Guard standards and so your unit and units like you saw the absolute worst of the fighting. All said and done you had taken horrendous casualties and many of the other below strength units got rolled into the 60th to keep you at fighting strength before you all got shipped out to the next warzone.

This all came together a bit more quickly than i expected so i think we should start seeing about doing our first sesseion. I think there is an online utility that allows multiple people to input their availibilities, i will see if i can find it and we can use that. If you have questions you can post them here, i will also try to idle in the roll20 room whenever i can and post combat summary sheets and other useful shit in there as well

Alright so everone has a character in Roll20 now except D&B who will probably not be in until Monday, and everyone has filled out their actual character sheet except Danno. Also Galv you will need to give your character a name, you should be able to rename him from the same place you assign character art.

I made a poll thingy using a website called Doodle. Basically outlines my general availability over the next month or so to run this game. More or less, 4pm EST to 1am EST on weekdays, 4pm to 3am on weekends, and nothing on sundays and mondays. We obviously will not play for the whole ten hours or whatever, that is just when i can fit it in. Sessions will probably run about four hours, and i plan on three or four session for the whole thing but really i have no fucking clue

you should be able to vote from this link

No worries man we will figure it out.

Also while writing a sick as fuck brief character bio like Sawrge did is encouraged, it is not needed. Doubly so if your character does not care to talk about his past. Do however give some thought to his demeanor and mannerisms, there is a lovely d100 personality table if you want to leave it to fate/need some inspiration

For regimental colors i was thinking something along the lines of the picture i have set for the roll20 game, very muted tones with plain grey flak befitting a penal legion. However that is kinda boring and fun/coolness>realisms so give me your ideas.

Hell, you can even map them out here

Also i know there was some talk of wanting a more retro style armor, this guy here did some very armageddon steel legion esque conversions with long coats but also a slightly less angular Cadian style flak we could steal

Also cool ones with rucksacks and respirators here

I used the army painter to make 4 styles, I tried to keep a "convict" theme throughout. I don't like the fourth one personally, I tried to emulate the Steel Legion ut it doesn't look good on the standard armour.

After a small search i found a little program for making some nice easy battlemaps. They will not be super detailed but they are definitely good for what we need.

Also do not forget each of you (except Owegno) get a little NPC buddy known as a comrade. These guys are kind of like an extension of you, they do not get attacks or actions of their own but they act in tandem with you to give you various bonuses and can get shot and killed. On your specialization page there are two abilities for each specialization that give you extra orders or powers with your comrade and they can be really useful.

You do not need to flesh out your comrade as a full character, but you can use the name tables to get a name for them and the demeanor table to get a very vague idea of their personality. You can record the stuff for your comrade at the bottom of your character sheet and i will be keeping a running roster of the squad (and any casualties)

One more update, since it looks like doing actual battlemaps is going to be easier for keeping track of combat we have a couple options

We can used cropped versions of your character art to make tokens. Really easy to do, and makes identification easy at a glance

We also have some generic soldier looking dudes with various weapons that are from a top down view for immulsions. They are a little less distinct but we can add names below them to tell them apart. I will have examples of each in the roll20 room if you wanna take a look
