D&D: The Rise and Fall of Knoss

Aeden watched the fight with amazement as Karag broke the tiefling with almost no effort.

"You know when I said killing innocents I meant children with burlap sacks over their heads. That was magnificent! "

[Timbrewolf]

Karag retrieves his hammer and heaves it up over one shoulder.

"NO PRIZE FOR KARAG?"

[Maccus]

((Roll Persuasion, Galv))

[THE MIGHTY GALVATRON]

[Maccus]

The man rubs his fingers down one of his very long mustachios, thinking.

"Okay, you will go with!"

He hands you a small coinpurse that doesn't jingle, smiling. "This will get you into Koschek. Tell them you are from tournament!"

[Timbrewolf]

Karag pulls the purse open and peers inside.

[Maccus]

Inside the purse is a single blue-dyed bloody leopard's paw.

"Means you are in good hands, my friend."

[Timbrewolf]

Karag ties the pouch to his belt by its drawstrings.

"DID YOU NOT SEE? KARAG HAS GOOD HANDS ALREADY." He holds his hands to the man palms up, dried blood vibrant in the cracks and lines of his hands against his dull grey skin.

"TELL US WHERE TO GO."

[Maccus]

"North, and then east. You find Koschek soon enough."

[THE MIGHTY GALVATRON]

"That nice bauble. We should be going to Koschek soon now yes?" Marko walks over back to his noble steed, ready to go whenever the rest are.

[TheWiznard]

Bizarre mutters under his breath "Uhh so that happened" before clearing his throat and scuttling his way over to just behind Karag. ((ready whenever))

[Table Turning]

Joey suddenly starts clapping obnoxiously. He flies into a snort-filled laughter.

(Ready)

[Maccus]

((I haven't forgotten, we'll return to our regularly-unscheduled D&D when I'm done celebrating my birthday.))

[THE MIGHTY GALVATRON]

((Maccus says he'll continue tomorrow night, told me to spread the word. So I'm spreading it.))

[Maccus]

((And we're back! Another day has passed with the end of the competition, which means everyone spends another days of rations, and Bizarre spends one day of horse feed. During this time, make the appropriate rolls to regain health over an 8-hour rest.))

After a day of walking with an entourage of the Leopard King's spearmen and his very own snow leopard spies, Koschek stands before you. Sporting no banner beyond pelts of snow leopards crudely hung from windows and nailed to brick walls, you get a feeling the tall spire was once a place of great importance, and you wonder what its builders think when they look down from the heavens and see its current fate as a petty king's fiefdom. Tall, winding steps lead up to a big wooden door, and the spire seems to rotate the higher up it goes, ending with a large crown at the very top. The guards stand at the door, looking you and your escort over.

"Why are you here?"

[Timbrewolf]

((are there no animals or water or anything out here? Karag should be able to scrounge up eats for everyone with a decent survival check or so while we travel))

"WON TOURNAMENT."

[TheWiznard]

Bizarre scampers towards Karag before saying "I follow the great and amazing Karag!" Bizarre gestures eagerly towards Karag. "Better known as Ironbreaker, lifter of 100 snosels, smasher of faces, the destroyer of bear corpses! His accomplishments know no bounds and I plan to follow him on his journey to spread news of them throughout the land."

[Table Turning]

"I'm hungry."

[THE MIGHTY GALVATRON]

"Big man is champion face smash guy! He get paw from fight man! Show him paw big man!"

Karag shakes the small pouch out into his hand, producing the leopard's paw. He shows it to the guards.

[Table Turning]

Joey picks his nose idly while looking the closest guard straight in the eye.

[Maccus]

((Got a lot on my plate right now fellas, updates coming soon))

"So," the guard says, looking the group over suspiciously, "The King's new guard is to be outlanders and vagrants... Well, I suppose I have no choice but to let you through."

He taps the bottom of his spear on the doors, and before long, they open to allow you in. You are immediately face-to-face with the mess hall, a horrid, unclean waste of space. There are a total of three long tables, each at strange, inconsistent angles with one another. Scraps of raw carcass and barely-cooked food litter the floor, some still with knives stuck into them. The tables themselves don't fare much better, with many a scratch or cut in the almost rotten-looking wood. Some burly, rough-looking guards in long furs sit at one of the tables, loudly singing and spilling their beverages just about everywhere. Past them, you can see the stairs.

Aeden's face is blank and stony, the same look when he first saw the staked children in the wilds. His hand is resting lightly on the hilt of his sword, and he gestures for the crew to walk towards the stairs

((Karag sizes up the tables in the hall, comparing their fit and make to the one that sat in the hall in which the party first met))

Bizarre looks around the room before saying quietly to the party "I thought we were supposed to be seeing leopards, not pigs!"
((Is there anything that resembles a musical object in the room?))

"Beeg room, not beeg as mine, but pretty beeg!"

Howdy y'all, I think I owe you an explanation. As you already know, I slacked off and said I had some stuff to work out for a while but after a month or so of no updates I think I should just up and say that after going through a bit of personal stuff, I was a little burnt out on DMing for a while.

That's not to say that nobody can pick this up, or even that I won't eventually pick this back up, but I feel like you guys deserve some explanation.
