Lore time - Where is the station?

Is it in a system? Is it orbiting something? If so, what planets are in the system and which one is it orbiting?

I'm expecting you to all make stuff up, but if there's an actual canon for this then someone tell me.

I believe it's orbiting some very special star that allows for the synthesis of plasma in their system, but I don't know if there's an actual name for it. Lavaland probably is now significant canonically as well, seeing as it's rich in the stuff (as well as rich in all manner of other beasties)

Its a starless system. Ss13 a strange gaseous giant with plasma in it. Lavaland is a large moon orbiting the giant and the tremendous gravitational pull from the planet is partly why it is so geologically unstable. The other reason why is the core is full of alien monsters.

There is a sun coded in the game. It can't be starless or else solar panels would be useless.

You know light travels infinitely, so technically solars should always have power but rotation can be a thing for the closest sun.

It doesn't exist. SS13 is just a simulation the Syndicate put stolen Nanotrasen employee brains through to devise strategies.

then why do solar panels only work in daytime? czechm9

Interstellar light is not enough to power any kind of solar panels that size, there is no technicality here.

All light is interstellar NikNak

Then why do solar panels need to automatically rotate?

The light pushes on the vanes of the panels and spin them and they're attached to turbine to generate electricity. Dont you know how solar power works?

It's pretty obvious that the station rotates around our Sun. Confused? Let me explain:

In the nearest future, mankind builds a lot of spaceships and stations, yada yada typical sci-fi stuff, all that jazz, etc. Mankind is quickly running out of conventional energy sources, so corporations begin paying scientists to research into an energy source that can power hundreds and hundreds of ships and stations.

They discover plasma- a unique substance that can power the Earth for millions of years. However the only way to get plasma is to drill into the core of the Earth. A syndicate group, bent on ending corruption of the governments by the pockets of millionaires bombed the site created for mining for plasma.

This goes critically wrong. The entire Earth is engulfed in flames erupting from the highly compressed, heated plasma, ending all life and possibilities of life on Earth.. supposedly.

One of the most powerful companies in space, Nanotrasen, of course, witnessed this apocalyptic event. Recognizing the potential to become a powerful empire, they willingly choose to never inform their employees of these planetary disaster. Meanwhile, they send covert strike teams to the now destroyed Earth, surveying for any survivors. What survivors they found were corrupted beyond repair. Some grew tails and scales.. others became accustomed to the plasma gas, combining themselves with it. Most wildlife became hostile, eldritch beings. The lava emerged from the ground, creating vast oceans of magma. However, the plasma was still there, just waiting to be taken for use. Nanotrasen, then, began making stations for the sole purpose of harvesting plasma from the destroyed Earth.. now named Lavaland to their ignorant employees.

And that's why the station orbits around the Sun. Honk.

The best traitors are offered a once in a life time deal - to board the shuttle one last time and be unplugged to a new life in the Red and Black. The escape shuttle isn't just a temporary way out of the station and back into the cycle - it's the only real way out of the simulation.

That's what the Hijack objective is for. You get to be a Syndieborg. It's a win/win.

Doesn't it orbit the Lavaland now?
