Can you be punished for Banhammer related comments

I heard someone got a warning for saying he has the power to ban people while having the banhammer.

If you have a banhammer or something else then you should have immunity to OOC in IC rules as long it is related to the item you have (aka you can't say "wtf" if you have the banhammer). If you don't then it needs to be removed from the wizard ship and perhaps the codebase entirely since it has the potential to get you banned.

Did you actually get any verification that someone "got a warning"? I can't see any notes relating to what the OP purports. The closest is a note from September which isn't a prejudicial one, and isn't about OOC in IC.

Someone, who I will PM to you, was warned for saying he had the power to ban people. He also said this happened while he was holding a hammer.

Perhaps the note was actually removed since when I heard about this. Not sure.

It was ATHATH and they were given an actual banhammer item by an admin, so I'm not sure why an admin would then get up in their grille about them saying they possessed the power to ban people, anyway, seems the note was later deleted and the admin apologised. So it seems like no harm was done.

Little did they know, that I racked my brain around for any justification that I could find, and called upon the antag token that uses the word "valid" when talking about traitors.

The admin deemed it acceptable, but told me to cease upon further remarks of the valids

Looking back on it, I don't get it either. But I guess it's just assumed to be another ooc term that people wouldn't say in real life?

Honestly, as the admin who created the note and sparked this discussion, i would say that no you can't be punished for it since if the item exists icly during the time in which you say that, and you're referencing the object then it's perfectly in character.

And due to that i apologized to the person i gave them too and removed the note since i was in the wrong. That's all i have to say to the matter as well as an apology too for creating confusion.

No need to say sorry. I kept all names private for privacy sake and because I didn't want anyone to feel they're getting lynched. My issue wasn't with you, my issue was with the note.

I'm gonna wrap this one up since it was mostly about one incident and it's long since been resolved.

You can't talk about banning and banhammers as you will it, but it can be contextually appropriate, especially if the banhammer item is involved.
