Undo the Dynamic Midround Config Changes

Ever since the costs for blob, space dragon, and xenos were modified, the dynamic system spawns them at a very sparse rate, preferring to instead spawn Nightmare consistently instead before the system can get enough points because it only costs 10 points as opposed to 15 or 20. I think reverting the changes made would be nice just to see some other faces around instead of the usual.

It sounds as though it is working as intended

I'd argue not, as the director will always blow all its points on roundstart antags and then once it gets 10 either always go for Nightmare or a midround traitor. Xenos is almost impossible to get to occur with the current numbers, and even if does manage to amass a large amount of points will always divert them into getting a midround wizard instead.

Sounds like this system is really slothful.

What's the point of rarity if you never ever get a rare item.

If you want more midround points to spend, a lower probability for second/third ruleset or a tweak to the ruleset scaling formula is the way to go. The former is easily doable in configs, the latter should be done in code. Alternatively, I would like to see dynamic generate threat during the round based on shit happening.

if only it was as easy as it seemed, but dynamic generating threat would be pretty AweSome

Pushing coding feedback but dynamic should definitely generate threat especially for “good” events so if you happened to get say the event that just gives you free crates you would ideally want to be able to use that stuff.

Any configurability or perhaps even better documentation to the dynamic system would make a great continuous bounty since that seemed to be a big piece to at least one headmin’s campaign.

Pretty sure this is because of a code bug

Yeah, this bug would've caused spawns overall to be so little in the last 2 months, but it has allowed Dynamic to be the only method of getting midround antag spawns to really get a scope of how the Dynamic spawning is working out right now. The only ones I've seen are Nightmare, Swarmers (who weren't affected by the bug), and space ninja during the testmerge (who also had 10 cost).

Bingo. There is a way for the system to gain threat at the point of origin for dynamic, it would be cool to see that idea come to fruit here too. (but then again I still shamelessly shill for the improvements from the point of origin to be carried over someday too)

But, that said, what would that even pertain to in practice? What kinds of things could be used to generate threat?

maybe generating more threat based on how long the round has been going on for or how many people are alive?

If the system always rushes the small cost traitors, what if it chose an option and waited till the threat was high enough to send it in?
