Once in awhile people becoming the same name as another person on the station happens due to genetics shenanigans. It never has been problem in recent memory and this is the first time I've actually seen this being taken too far; where several players kept this up for several rounds which gave them an unfair advantage. In addition of just making things harder for players to decipher through who is who for several rounds as well as the admins who have to figure out which person is which when someone does something. I'm all for gimmicks and fun, but this is an example of something that got out of hand that required an intervention as it looked like it was going to persist.

People were warned and only one person was banned for trying to be clever, which they named themselves to something very similar to the previous name which is still ignoring the rule. Admin intervention is this situation was perfectly fine.

As a one off event joke, sure, it'd be funny, but as a consistent thing people are doing it fucks with the rules in various ways (escalation, metagrudging/metabenefits/metacomms, antag status) so its understandable why the hammer had to be dropped.
