Chemist permaban/Ban appeal:
[Gouty] Erik489
:
Gouty - Permaban

Post Content:Ban appeal
Byond account and character name: Erik489 (Dennis Landrow, Denise Landrow, Character 3)
Banning admin:Gouty
Ban type (What are you banned from?): Game
Ban reason and length: As a non-antag killed someone by feeding them 6 lexorin pills, told them it was beneficial. Then disposaled the corpse. Tried the same trick with the captain. Does not seem to understand why this is wrong - https://i.imgur.com/8N7l2sQ.png permanent ban
Time ban was placed (including time zone): 2018-1-03 15:09:33 Pacific Standard Time (GMT)
Server you were playing when banned (Sybil or Bagil):Bagil
Your side of the story: This security officer came in, and I was looking on the wiki for what drugs to make. ( I normally play Bartender, but its like mixing more shit to get shit, know what I mean?) I was a chemist, and I had just recently made Lexorin pills. I asked him if i was allowed to feed him the drugs so he would be cured. He consented to this and had no objections what so ever. Fast forward a few minutes, dude is flopping on the floor. The pills mustve been working. I fed him a few more and shoved him down the chute to be someone elses problem and to be cloned by them. Captain (Reuben Lars) came in, and I told him the pills would cure him as well. He found out they were lexorin pills and swiftly cut me to pieces with his sword.I was spectating the guy I fed the pills to (he wasn't a cat/lizard person, so it worked in an odd, Rube-Goldberg kind of way) for quite some time before my connection was interrupted by a Permanent ban.
Why you think you should be unbanned: Ever since my friend (Chloe Chatruese, Judge Mortis, TheShroudedLord.) introduced me to this hidden gem, I was instantly hooked. Im a fan of roleplaying games, so it hurts me dearly over this little incident. There are no other games (to my knowledge) that are like SS13. I think I can put my hubris down for a moment, and apologize for any sort of confusion that may have stemmed from this. My theory is that the admin thought it was a problem because i wasnt an antagonist, I simply was experimenting since it is SS13, and chemistry doesnt last too long in some rounds.

I still dont understand why you fed lethal poison to someone after calling it a “cure” then hid the body.

I knew the body would make its way down to the disposal room, where there are people. Hence why he was alive and well halfway through the round.
I fed him it because I heard people would just accept the pills without thinking of the consquences of those pills. Obviously this was a TERRIBLE idea to keep feeding him them, but im not known for my good ideas.

I was the officer he killed, I would like to mention that the extent of my interaction with him if he could make sulfanol to help subdue a wizard, then asking him if he remembered how to make acetone. At no point was there discussion about pills. and the pills themselves were labeled "Brute Cure".

I mean, this is pretty cut and dry.

So, I think the main problem with this is that you did not understand what you did wrong until you came here. Understand that it is completely fine, if not in your interest, to shift the blame of this incident onto yourself due to the fact that you acted carelessly. I understand that this is an online atmos simulator, but wouldn't it be a bit strange if a chemist gave some random pills to someone and then flushed them down a garbage can to be cloned while they themselves are in medbay? It just does not add up and appears to be antagonistic behavior for the sake of being a dick (hence against rule one.) These things should not happen, but we understand that they do. You were only permabanned because you did something that made you seem like a shitter.

Take some time to consider your actions.

*sigh* yeah, you got me... I just hope this isn't going to be a huge ban considering this is my first time. After he started seizing I just flipped the hell out and didn't think about how to help. Dr_bee, I didn't mean for my fuck up to ruin your round. It was a dick move for me to kill you. I'm not looking for you to accept my apology, I just want to say I'm sorry for that.

Just wanted to embed this in case anyone missed it

Can lower this to a few days (mostly wanted to see you appeal for posterity). But I still don't think you understand why what you did was wrong. Take some time to read the rules.

Due to your responses here and in the adminPMs I predict more bans in your near future. Please prove me wrong.

Edit: 3 day tempban, 7 day chemistry ban

Simply:

If you leave pills on the floor with no indication of what's inside and someone just picks it up and swallows it, then it's on them. (Don't run this into the ground or you'll be asked to stop)

If you as nonantag tell someone they're beneficial through conversation or by labeling, then it's on you. This includes labeling something as X units when it's really Y units and Y is an OD/addiction threshold.

The Ban has been changed by Gouty to a 3 day game and 7 day chemban that he put as game ban like a chumbi

oops. Chumbis status deserved

I should point out that they weren't just telling them they were beneficial and waiting for them to pick them up, they were feeding them.

Could we resolve this now? I have carefully read the rules instead of skimming over them, found that I greytided and went out of my way to cause grief, then tried to act like it was justified by my character. No need to continue it as the punishment is already given, and the lesson of self antagging is highly frowned upon by many people.

EDIT: I was supposed to be able to play on TG tonight sometime, but the ban seemed to be swapped around. Instead of it ending on the 6th, itll end on the 10th... Is this correct? Seems kind of harsh for my first offence (and ill do my damnedest to keep it that way).
