Your side of the story: Sorry alphonzo but my conscience forces me to appeal this.

Anyways, piece of shit Dante Smit (not smith) decides, for the fun of it, to cut down both Christmas trees. So I kill and space him. It may be worth mentioning he's done this at least once before.

Why you think you should be unbanned: The Christmas Trees are one of the best reasons to connect during the holiday season, due to the fun gift potential and how every round is a bit crazier and more fun due to shit people get (for example someone got an unlimited admin pipegun the other day). Dante Smit decided to be a piece of shit and ruin this for everyone by destroying both of the Christmas trees. Hes an asshole who takes pleasure in ruining fun things.

If its worth anything, I was very candid with alphonzo in ahelps. I explained the situation fully even when it was kind of incriminating for me.

getting lynched for ruining christmas is standard practice. i was a cultist that round and too busy to lynch chaplain but I can assure you I'd have killed and cremated the chaplain too for being a cunt. Sad to see chap didnt eat one for banbaiting honestly.

Not peanut posting because it's true that people get lynched for destroying the trees all the time and that needs to be made clear

I should note its not really ban baiting because I ahelped originally. For all I know he took it in stride, I just ahelped because I wanted admins to tell him to stop doing this shit since he clearly didn't understand the lesson when he got fucked up ICly.

Initially, I was going to look the other way until I saw where his body ended up.

Smashing Christmas trees is pretty dickish, and does justify a roughing up, but spacing someone for it and taking them out of the round permanently went over the line.

I've spoken to a headmin that was online at the time and we agreed that, the killing was fine, but the spacing took things too far.

related. past headmins have approved killing&cremating of a guy that killed a friendly antag (thats a quick summary at least), arguably less of a dick move than breaking down christmas trees for the lulz.

easily comparable, in both situations the victim was being called for a lynching by many over comms, both ended permakilled by a nonantag.

I dislike referencing past decisions and anything not in the “Read these if nothing else” rules so I’ll stick to arguing with the situation. (Edit: I have no issue with other people doing so. I’d just rather not base my argument off headmin decisions which change like the wind. If you wanna reference one feel free.)

Immediately after I killed him a doctor arrived in the same room. Meaning if I left him there, he would have been defibbed and sent on his way in under minute. That really would have taught him a lesson, wouldn’t it? Then he would spend the rest of his round trying to get revenge on me with his null rod. No thanks.

Additionally, he kind of broke rule one by being a bigger dick than the grinch. Escalation policy comments on how stealing someone’s ID card can result in you dead, and I think this might apply to that as well. He literally stole the presents of everyone who hadn’t taken one yet.

At the end of the day he was a fucking dick and got his shit kicked in. I don’t regret what I did at all and still don’t understand how I went too far.

It's almost a year old now and was made by a past headmin, so it would probably be good to have a more up to date decision on this.

If you perform an action which has zero benefit to you other than making others upset (like chopping down the Christmas trees while they’re enabled) I will ban you if you adminhelp when someone kills you.

OK, so we talked this over, and while we agree that chopping down the Christmas trees opens you up to retribution, you shouldn't space/cremate/etc. for it. Permanent round removal is a step too far.
I've looked further into this particular case, however, and I feel that the ahelp logs are relevant.

I'm not going to go over these logs piece by piece, but it's pretty clear from looking at them that Wesoda was doing his best to act in good faith in this scenario. He ahelped about his own actions because he wanted to verify what he did was the right thing to do. This doesn't void any punishment you might receive from your actions, but it is enough for me to lift this ban and the associated note. Going forward we won't tolerate spacing for this sort of thing, though, please be aware of that.
