[Doctor Brutality] hurr durr CE has to do autism every shift

Post by Timonk » #578863

BYOND account: Timonk
Character name: Poly P. Rotector
Ban type: Role
Ban length: Permanent
Ban reason: Banned from Roles: Chief Engineer permanently - Doing Poly Protector CE schtick again. Isn't playing CE until vitally needed i.e. SM delam and is coding/watching youtube/whatever instead. Seems to only be doing this as CE when I'm not online but I may be wrong, either way you got warned for this. If you can't find something better to do other than basically all but be AFK then play a different job.

(probably relevant, previous note: Warned for wasting head slots, CE specifically. Has a static of Poly P. Rotector and sets CE to high every shift & does nothing but sit in their office guarding it. Cute at first but this has gone on for several days & people have complained in dead chat that they keep losing CE roles to them, which I think is fair. If they aren't going to actually use their CE job to play CE I think they should get a job ban of some fair length.)
Time ban was placed: 15:20
Server you were playing on when banned: Terry
Round ID in which ban was placed: 148091
Your side of the story: pugie thinks i was afk all shift as CE after spectating me for 2 days and banned me according to that. to be fair, you could call it being "afk", even though i never was away from my keybaord, as i had the game open and i was watching the shift from my office. he thinks CE is supposed to do atmos autism every shift and i disagree.
Why you think you should be unbanned: because he banned me based on other people having shitty luck with rolling CE, and i was still doing CE duty when it was needed. I.e fixing holes in the station, trying to fix the SM( example: the very round where he banned me), etc. but apparently i wasnt doing "enough" as CE. i asked him for an example of what to do but he never responded.

Hello thanks for appealing.

I believe your conduct as CE breaks server rule 5, I don't think you're putting in an adequate minimum effort as CE. Not only is CE a command job and has authority over the whole engineering department, they have many specialised tools in their office for engineering and atmos means. There's only one of these jobs available so it is naturally quite sought after.

As I said in my most recent ticket to you, fixing supermatter when no one else is doing it is good and all, but that's the bare minimum I think is ideal from a regular engineer and it isn't fair on other players if you take the CE spot and sit in your office the entire shift unless the SM will delaminate. You can blame it on their shitty luck but at the end of the day you aren't gaining anything from taking up the job, you aren't even playing for 90% of the shift you are tabbed out, only moving so you don't get AFK kicked - you might as well just play assistant, wanting to do a gimmick where you name yourself "Poly Protector" and guard Poly as CE for so many rounds so that people in dead chat complain that you are taking the job and doing nothing with it is not an excuse to waste a head roll.

I asked you to do actual engineering stuff as CE but you seem to refer to everything outside of sitting in your office and fixing SM as autism projects, if you don't actually enjoy engineering don't play CE simple as. I literally noted you for this yesterday & you've played here for a very long time hence the perma and I have no plan on changing it, I'm denying this.

For reference, you can access your adminhelp conversations through Statbus, AtlantaNed's site. To do so, go to Statbus (found here) and click 'authenticate' in the top-right to login using the /tg/ forums. Once you've done this you can click on your name in the top-right of your browser to access your homepage, and click on 'Your Ahelps'. Once there, you can find the specific conversation, review it, and if you so wish you can also make it public, which creates a shareable link that people can view the conversation with. You can make it public by clicking the 'Make Public' button on the right-hand side of the browser when looking at an adminhelp conversation, at which point you will be provided with a link you can share.

Anyone with that link can view the conversation, so take care if you don't want it to be shared around.

Sincerely,
bobbah "bee" brown

To Bring Up A Point, it's been made clear to me during my stay here on /tg/ that being a repeated head is a privilege, not a right.
(what to do as CE) The duty of a head should be to set a clear example of behavior for the crew, ie doing their job at any time needed, or not needed. (this has been pointed out to me by multiple admins during various ahelps for one reason or another)
No, you don't need to build an autism fort every round but i'm sure a lot more people out there would like to repair holes more than you want to guard poly.
the meme is cute but you could easily just break in as a regular engineer and guard poly to your hearts content.

Doctor Brutality was well within his rights to place the CE ban on you for the sake of those on the server. Head roles have a minimum amount of effort required of them which includes being an active force in engineering. Doing a gimmick like this is fine, but if it becomes excessive, such as this situation, Admins are free to intervene.

However we feel a permanent ban is a bit too lengthy for what was essentially a gimmick being stretched far past the point of being funny and will be reduced to one month which will include time already served.
