Your side of the story: Got killed by reider as an officer, waited for robotics to make a shell and a posi took a while, came into the world asked the roboticist, Asked them who was the most dangerous human because im a peacekeeper borg something to do this is something I often to I went into maint looking for them with pax in hand, got flashed instantly killed, roboticist made another borg took a bit, then the captain started screaming how reider was bad went after reider again looked for them for a while couldn't find them found them a few times injected 5u pax on them they ran away
Why you think you should be unbanned: I admit asking "whose the biggest threat right now" is a very damming thing to say but I tend to say something similar as other ghost roles even when nothing is going on to catch up with the station's issues as quickly as possible.

I didn't do a law 1 abuse I was a peacekeeper borg with pax with no intention to kill reider was killing everyone I was trying to pacify them

Omega_DarkPotato talked about me solely dedicating my playstyle to farming kills, and how they aren't very interested in keeping me around for that reason.
I disagree with this if you have seen my play you can see what I do and it isn't farming kills, valid hunting or such these are some of the things I do
Medic: Constantly healing people making medical combos for cryotubes to make them heal fast and do full every limb recovery in seconds and other doctor thinks
Botanist: Try to grow healing plants experiment with new stuff like carbon roses or try to make a steel farm with steel tower caps or specially made healing plants
Engineer: setting up Sm with new gasses learning how vents work and such spend a lot of time doing this recently
Atmospherics Technician: I play this as much as a medic lot I get fully kitted out to fix all station breaches and make sure all the systems are nominal making faster hallways setting up plasma windows with holo fans and fixing all of the atmos at to the p speeds and also trying to perfect a solid plasma bars farm
Scientist: In xenobiology constantly making new slimes for cool stuff like getting 50 extracts of stabilized metal slime to make constant copies of uranium amongst other xenobiology things
Head of Personal: Giving access by requiring tickets and ordering supplies when the station is in heavy needs
Chemist: Mostly doing a plastic factory trying to get 1 billion plastic which the farthest I got was to 12 million
Roboticist:Making odysseus to heal people

I don't play this game to farm kills I honestly feel quite objectified and with all the things I have done to help others experience the game I like helping people by doing things like keeping the station atmos well or healing them or making a lot of ghosts roles or just doing wacky things like making a shiton of soap using blood tomatoes gibs or making a lot of plasma or doing elaborate things when I catch tags instead of just killing them

I like helping people is one of the main reasons I play the game if anyone screams for help over comms I always try to come if I can if there are new players that don't know much about a mechanic I love helping them

And when I do occasionally rage in game I do so In character, or after the round when it is appropriate to speak in OOC

If instead of a perma ban, I was given a ban from all ghost roles for use of meta knowledge I can prove I don't play this game to hunt and farming kills. I like being a crewmember and doing the jobs I mentioned before but a permanent ban and telling me I only play to farm kills when my gameplay clearly shows a path of support roles or immersing myself in the game's various jobs mechanics is misconstrued.

The permanent ban was given because Omega says I contribute nothing but farming kills and I should change how I play which is simply not true so I don't believe my ban should be from the entire server.

I did spawn as a posi brain and asked a question to make an encounter with reider faster but my ghost role behavior is not reflective of my general crewmember behavior a perma ban is very harsh when most of my time in sybil is spent alive and doing my own thing, a ghost role permanent ban would be more appropriate maybe a week ban or a bit more, I think I can add good things into the sever while playing as a normal crewmember.

I've calmed down after the incident and I reflected after looking through Telecomms and game logs thoroughly to review my actions. I have debated with other players and myself how the actions I did broke the general OOC metaknowledge rules and I have decided that yeah I should be ghost role banned I used knowledge of reiders existence as an enemy of the station to give an unprompted question out of the blue to increase in which the speed I will get to confront reider once again twice over the first time wasn't immediate and was in a sec but even though there was some comms evidence to justify this it doesn't justify the initial intention behind my actions being that I know of reiders existence as an evil force when I shouldn’t have IC wise same goes for the second time asking as a posi brain even though reider was revealed through comms as they said “

It’s not nearly enough justification for it and Omega was right in giving me a ban for this but the comments that came after of me just solely playing to dedicated to farm killing and permanently kicking me that's not who I am I can perfectly follow the rules and behave as I have when it comes as a crewmember I do need some time to calm and revise how I have been playing the game so it doesn’t bleed into me playing as a crewmember but I believe I can manage to do this within the server boundaries.

I'm sorry to reider for using past life knowledge and using pax on them when that shouldn’t have even been a possibility of happening to reider at the speed that it happened if I hadn’t used meta knowledge and, if every borg had done that it would have being a major problem for them in their murder spread.

Anything else we should know: I'm not good at looking through logs but I 100% had no way of knowing where reider was after I died found him in different places every time I was doing a lot of different things throughout the round and even If I hadn't asked who was the most dangerous person on the station I would have known by the constant screaming about reider killing everyone in comms and the huge masses decapitated of bodies across the station

I was around when this was happening, so I want to comment on this so people understand just how absolutely and completely Hoolny broke the rules.

He died to Reider as a sec officer, took a ghost role (posibrain), immediately started hunting him down again, died again, then took yet another posibrain and immediately (and very obviously) started trying to find him again. That's a very clear rule 2 break.

He was also running around as a pax peacekeeper borg and dragging Beepsky with him, something he does quite often and is a pretty clear rule 12 break, since Beepsky is pretty much a guaranteed stun and peacekeeper is the definitive "I want to ruin this antag's day" cyborg module.

Delete this as peanut if it doesn't fit, but I think this coupled with your twelve notes for similar powergaming/escalation issues over the last year paint a picture of your gameplay being the opposite of what we want here.

This is something security officers and for some reason specifically engi borgs do to me walking around with a beepsy

I wouldn’t consider it something I do quite often but to be fair my memory is really bad but I really can’t recall this being something I usually do as a borg since what I mostly do as a borg is either being a mediborg and healing people really fast since mediborgs are in every way superior in healing capability then normal human doctors for a wide amount of reasons or an engi borg since they have pretty much an infinite rcd to fix atmos and all access to fix all station breaches plus they take no atmos damage and the occasional peacekeeper borg and janiborg when I feel like changing things up

Carrying a beepsy around in most situation isn’t really good since you have to constantly pull dying humans around or corpses even when I was holding a beepsy to get reider I had to leave it behind becuase someone was dying in middle hallway and I had to leave the beepsy behind where I found reider killing someone in medbay and that’s where I injected pax into him

I’m not justifying any of my actions I did do a rule break that’s why this whole appeal is a thing but framing me as this player that uses beepsy all the time to cheese players and saying that’s most of the thing I do as a borg is a bit disingenuous to my persona

Hi! This is going to be a long post, so I'll try to summarize my points up here at the top for those who're uninterested in reading my long-form essay.
  • This is a ban that's drawing quite a lot on the fact that this is a repeated issue - hence my lines about your playstyle. I admit I was a little strong in saying that your playstyle is only dedicated to kills, and despite the ribbing from others in tg-gen after this ban was placed, ">paramedic" isn't necessarily a bad thing - I'll take your word on the others, but I've seen you play medical as well. The problem, however, lies in the fact that you still break rules far too often to fall into play that revolves around killing. You could be the best in every job, but breaking the rules repeatedly, especially when it comes to a similar topic, is what would drive a similar ban.
  • This isn't a ghostrole ban or a silicon ban because I have no guarantee that either of those bans would solve this issue - this ban is mainly placed to force you to change your predisposition to break rules around self-antagging/"getting kills".
  • This appeal is denied - you're free to a headmin overview, as is every user - and in this case, I'll call em to look at it regardless since this is a perma and it'll help them get looking at this case earlier. In the event that I did actually botch this one, it's only fair to you to have it overturned as soon as possible. (However - I don't think this ban is without sufficient standing)

Why's this a perma?
Permanent bans are (usually) either from issues that we permanently ban right off the bat for, or for instances where a user does not show any significant change to a playstyle after multiple chances are given. You're not an evader, a griefer, a doxxer, or (god forbid) an erper - so this is the second type, where you've been given chances to change and I don't think you have.

If Joe Spessman kills someone without reason once, they'd get bwoinked and a talking-to that might end in a note or ban depending on how partially-justified they were.
If Joe Spessman kills someone without reason quite a few times, they start to develop a note history that would make the admin handling the ticket escalate to bans beyond the suggested 1-day time - so as to try and let Joe Spessman know that they can't just wait out their day to go back to breaking the rules again.
If Joe Spessman kills someone without reason over, and over, and over again, after numerous chances and bans, we have no reason to believe that Joe Spessman will ever stop randomly killing people, and at that point the enjoyment of the other players comes first. That's the case where a permanent ban comes in - and until Joe Spessman can prove that they've changed and won't randomly kill people anymore, they're going to stay banned.

Your case isn't as clean-cut as Joe Spessman's here, but there's still a connection to be noted. We've both seen the peanut thread, but since this is the actual appeal itself I'll post some relevant notes that played into this decision:

There's more notes beyond this, but they start to be >1y old - most are on antag rolling (seriously, dude, you have a LOT of notes about that) or that time you dragged people into a singularity as an asimov borg (not great.)
For your own sake, I'll forgive you for instances over a year old - but this many CONNECTED notes in a year's time span isn't great, and that's only the notes that have some connection to this case.

Repeated notes + A long time of getting them = "He's not improving".
Second part of a perma is usually, for those who aren't at 100 notes and on such thin ice that a sneeze will break their footing, a particularly bad incident.

"Will you be my savior?" asks the poor, resourceless roboticist, only for their plea to be unanswered by a need to KILL BOSS.
Dying once, coming back, and immediately trying to validhunt a human who killed you as a silicon is bad enough.
Dying twice, coming back twice, and doing the exact same thing while also ignoring other requests because of a need (from what I see) to kill your twice-now killer is exceptionally bad - and indicative of using or acting upon past-life knowledge. (In this case, it's holding a grudge/wanting to kill your killer.)

This isn't even getting to the topic of whether you abused ghost knowledge to determine where in maint Reider was - at some point during this second borg runaround you were 5 tiles away from Reider's hiding place. I'll toss it because it's... possibly circumstantial, but it sure doesn't help.
You've got a nasty history with silicons, a nasty history with ghostroles, and a pretty bad history when it comes to antags, rolling for antags, and a series of notes that make it look like you're gunning for kills all-too-often in a way that comes in conflict with the rules.

So I give you a permanent ban from the servers - silicons and ghost roles are entirely justified, and I'm using your history to justify the complete server ban.

What Now?
So: You're permabanned. What Now?
  • As above, I'll be letting headmins know about my response, and effectively handing this off to them for an executive review. Of note here, I'm 100% willing to give my complete and full permission to touch the length of this ban. Headmins already have the privilege and capability to do so, but I'll say here that I don't mind if they choose to lighten this themselves either.
  • In the event that the headmins don't overturn this, you're set with a couple of sub-options:
    • Appeal in a year's time. Use time as your justification, and prove through text that you've changed as a player. Point out your failings from the past, acknowledge them, and show (in writing) how you've improved since then, or plan to do so if there's still parts remaining.
    • Get a vouch. I'm a big fan of this one, and to show how much of a fan I am, I'll give you this: If you get 150+hrs on a server without significant notes, or a vouch from any server in hostbus, I'll let you re-appeal with no timer. If you absolutely binge spaceman for 3 months and get a vouch, you can appeal in 3 months and get back in. (Don't binge spaceman, it's a good way to burn out.)
    • Do nothing. Find another game, another server, move on - it's an option. Might not be a "happy ending" to your time here, but if you end up finding something you like a lot more, or realize that you didn't actually like your time here that much, do what makes you happy.
    • Evade - I'm not going to pretend that this isn't an option that's taken, but I'm listing it here to tell you that if you love this game you really shouldn't do this. It's obvious to many to not do this if they want an unban, but the takeaway that most people forget is that if you do this you're basically ensuring that any time you play, you're playing knowing that you're going to get caught someday, and ruin all your history you have with whatever new character you're on. We catch people fast. If you evade, you won't have anyone cheering you on, you won't be able to get recognition for positive forces as a player, and you're screwing your chances for any future appeals harder than anything else. I'd think that worrying that at any time, your character, project of whatever you're working on, and time that you spent could be tossed down the drain without so much as an ahelp would wreck whatever fun you have here.
  • In the event that the headmins DO overturn this, you're still set with some options: (I'm assuming that the max that'll happen is you get a permanent silicon + ghostrole ban but have the server ban reduced to something that you can reasonably wait out - so I'll list accordingly)
    • In what's probably the best option here, you take this as the most serious warning you can get: It's your brush with death - the possibility of a permanent ban over making this sort of "continuous mistake". A seven-day or two-week server ban's pretty far along in terms of ban escalation, so you're not left with much breathing room if you stay down this path. Taking this as a lesson to learn from and change your behavior (like you've offered to do in the peanut - good on you for it, even if it's ultimately not changing my decision here) will go a VERY long way to staying around.
    • Take a break anyway - whether this is longer than whatever server ban you'd end up with, or opting to pick the pacifist option onto your character and swearing off sec, this option'll give you more time to watch and observe how other people go about conflict, escalation, and what they do when they don't get antagonists, or when there's no antags to hunt down. You write about how you play a lot of jobs already - and picking pacifist's just going to let you do that job content still, while pushing you away from the part of the game that's given you problems repeatedly. This is another pretty good option, I think.
    • Carry on as before - This isn't a good option, but I'm listing it here just like the "evade" option from before because it is an option and it's important that I recommend against it. Carrying on as before will get you in trouble again, and you will end up here again, more likely than not. Even if this ban is decreased, it'll still be a bigger step in the ban escalation pathway - and the next ban will hit harder, and be harder to get away from.
To repeat from the top - this appeal is denied.
In the events that headmins do not overturn this, you may appeal in either 1 year, or as soon as you gain a vouch or 150+ hours on a server (that isn't TDM) with no significant notes.
No matter what option you pick from the "what now" section (as long as it's not evading, seriously) I wish you luck with your future endeavors.
You're dedicated to the game, and that's a good thing - but we're all here to have a good time, and that can only be done when everyone's following the rules we all agreed to play by when we join the server. (yes yes secret "rule" sometimes shows up)

Oh - one more thing.
You've pretty successfully convinced me that your playstyle isn't solely dedicated to getting kills (even if it is still breaking the rules pretty seriously), and I was a little rough when writing that reason.
Although I'm not touching the duration at all, I'll change that ban description to something nicer - which should help with a reappeal if you end up needing to go through that process. Cheers!

Sounds good thanks for giving me the option to grind another ss13 server I really like this game if you could, could you give me a list of the servers that are appropriate that aren't; fulp, paradise or any ERP server I'm not sure what TDM means honestly

Goon, Yog, and Bee offer some MRP/LRP options and are hostbus servers. (Makes it easier for our headmins to communicate with their headmins) I'm not sure if VG is in the hostbus network but if it is that's an option too.
There's Shiptest, which is on during the weekends only I think.
I offered 150+ hours w/out significant notes because I wanted to offer the chance for non-hostbus servers (in which case I'd be trying to communicate with their staff myself and doing a little bit of extra legwork) - there's quite a few of em. (more than I can list here, but there's interesting options in em like Eris)

In terms of "TDM server" I mean stuff like CM (Colonial Marines) or TGMC (Terragov Marine Corps). Both of these are very fun servers and offer an alternative experience to spessman, but they're both focused around two teams killing each other. (Marines vs Xenomorphs)
Doesn't really help to prove your case here, haha.


I also tentatively recommend skyrat, despite it being a MRP/HRP server (and one that allows ERP) if only because it's a direct TGcode downstream with modularized components.
There's methods to turn all ERP features off/not hear about any of it, and then you're basically playing "tg with mods", (and some more strict rules, so I'd recommend the pacifist trait permanently on) but it's not a hostbus server and I can understand if you're not interested in MRP/HRP or having to be on a server that allows for ERP.
