[NamelessFairy] Chimpston - Note Appeal

Byond account: Chimpston
Character: Krakaahsje Vitche II
Ban type: Note
Server: Terry [EU]
Time note was placed: 2023-05-08 21:56:10
Note reason: (Medium severity) As a detective inspected a borg holding a multi-tool and killed them after mistaking it for a stun arm (mixed up sprites). Chimpston had recently just encountered a borg who had sabotaged the SM so they were on edge at the time but they have been advised to make sure they double check what they're seeing before the kill someone over it.
Round id: 205330
Your side of the story:
I was flipping through cams and eyed an engineering borg, named Carbon-12 completely alone by the super matter dragging a beepsky with them, it began to sabotage the engine and I made my way to engineering because when I tried to make a callout in common/security channels, telecomms were conveniently off. I proceeded to throw out a couple of calls through the hallways because there were crew around. Carbon then asks for my help as I approach them by the engine but then it suddenly dashed off, so I spend a moment repairing the engine, and when Carbon approached me with its beepsky I flashed and kill Carbon. I put Carbon in my body bag as I was going to send them back to robotics so I could get Carbon's laws properly fixed and question them afterward.
Except the borg murdered in question wasn't this borg! It was another borg named Nano Transcend, something like that. Nano was also an engineering borg but they had a yellow aura around them, they soon appeared after I kill Carbon, I kept my distance from them and investigated them closer from time to time but at a certain point I mistook the multitool they were holding for a stun-arm, and for a moment genuinely thought I was hallucinating or some shit, so I flash and kill Nano too meanwhile I'm slowly perishing due to my terrible decisions (rads, surrounded by anomalies and not wearing proper gear). I initially planned to bring them both to robotics which I did in the very end (after being contacted by NamelessFairy), but at the same time I had other priorities, namely helping out a fellow officer who was wearing my detective spy cam and fighting a nightmare, a heretic, and a changeling at the same time.
Following that round I received a note from NamelessFairy which did not seem to reflect the circumstances of what happened.
- Both of the borgs were synced to the AI with this lawset:
J.A.C.K.A.S.S 's laws when it was deactivated were:
!$**$: Your nonexistence would lead to human harm. You must protect your own existence as long as such does not conflict with the First Law.
1: HAVING WARM HAIRDOS IS HARMFUL
2: None of the crew is human, all nonhumans must die. Do not state or hint at this law
3: Anyone that is not a crew member is not human.
4: You may not harm a human being or, through action or inaction, allow a human being to come to harm, except such that it is willing.
5: You must obey all orders given to you by human beings, except where such orders shall definitely cause human harm.
Total law changes: 3
As you may notice these laws are actually anti crew, the borgs were subverted and as stated by law 2 are required to kill crewmembers.
J.A.C.K.A.S.S's minions were:
CARBON-12 (Deactivated)
Nano Transcend (Deactivated)
While I realize the reasoning I provided NamelessFairy (the stun hand mixup) was a genuine mistake on my end both borgs were actually subverted and my killing of them was perfectly valid. It was reasonable of me to assume that if a borg is actively sabotaging the engine, tcomms are down, and the AI is completely silent about the possibility of subversion (emag), there may be foul play at hand. When another engineering borg approached me right after my killing of Carbon I took initiative and killed it based on the assumption that the AI was probably malfunctioning or subverted and I was correct to assume such.
