The Head of Security gained the mutation spatial instability, eventually teleported into the ice wastes, and then died as a result. Please be more careful when handling deadly equipment and if you do mess up, help whoever you just dunked in a timely manner.

Your side of the story: Nurses the bottle was brought into the brig, and when their bag was emptied. syringes, and a syringe gun were found inside. The HOS, Jordan Reay asked if the syringe gun I'd picked up was unloaded. I planned on removing the syringe from the gun, but instead misfired it south into him.

More importantly is what I did after this mistake. I dont have access to say logs, so I will be sewing together what was said on telecoms with my side of what happened. I'm sure Harricross can pull say logs.

After Jordan Gasped twice, and fell to the ground I shift clicked him and saw "he seems winded" in the inspection text. Confirming that the syringe contained lexorin, which is what I first asked when it was shot, I injected him with eppi to purge it, and tried to shake him up. Then the 1.5 units of mutagen inside the syringe caused him to teleport. Which was beyond my control.

Afterwards, I went towards medical. My intent was to get a crew pinpointer from Piper Faust, the CMO. By the time I arrived she was standing outside of medical, and heading out with two paramedics to get the HOS's corpse with a pinpointer.

Why you think you should be unbanned: I dont even want this note removed! I just want it to be clarified that I tried with everything I had to right what happened, and that it was a mistake!
Edit, and hates you say in Ahelps that you dont beleive this was a mistake, that it is too improbable. If this note only exists because you thought it was intentional, I do want it gone.

Hi, thanks for making an appeal.

As you can already see in the video, it's pretty hard for someone to miss that big of a button hence my doubts. However, I cannot state if it was accidental or not since there's no way for me to actually verify that. Instead, I wrote the note based on what actually happened regardless of intent. HoS is shot with a syringe, is filled with lexorin/unstable mutagen, gains the spatial instability mutation, dies in the ice wastes via a mix of vomit knockdown, oxyloss, and being in critical.

Like I have said before, you should not be afraid of a minor note if you do not intend to repeat the same behavior. If it truly was a mistake, you are probably not going to shoot someone by accident with a syringe full of unknown chemicals again in the near future.

In regards to the note itself and after some discussion with my peers, "...and if you do mess up, help whoever you just dunked in a timely manner." I will be removing that portion of the note as they have pointed out that not every player would have the genetics/medical knowledge and experience to appropriately evaluate the situation.

It always comes down to weird technicalities in the end for note appeals. Feel assured that the headmin team will do our best to interpret your appeal in good faith, understanding you're not an admin. Most players are inherently disadvantaged when trying to get notes changed, lacking the training and resources that admins have.

Accordingly i've tried to translate your appeal request into the appropriate adminspeak:
The note is factually or materially incorrect.

There must be a difference between how an admin who knew all the facts would view you vs how an admin who only had the note to go on would view you. If you were being a shit but the note didn't correctly detail exactly how you were being a shit, an appeal nitpicking this detail is unlikely to be granted.
Your note as it currently stands is

A key question to ask is: If an admin knew all the facts outlining the context of this incident which Harricross intentionally omitted ...

... With those contextual facts being that that you claim it was an accident and you provably try a number of very reasonable steps to undo or remedy what happened (as evidenced by the logs Archie pasted above) which could strongly support your assertion it was an accident ...

Would there be a difference in how the admin saw you versus the note as written?

With the adminspeak portion over, even answering yes to that question doesn't automatically mean it would be overturned. Note appeal guidelines are clear that it may just result in the note being reworded.

If you get the opportunity to read this before we discuss and come to a conclusion, does this translation from player-speak to admin-speak broadly align with how you feel about the note?

Whew I kind of forgot to get back to this. Yeah that's just about how I feel about the note. I understand the note can't say "accidentally" in it. I wasn't aware of what the new note message was because I haven't checked since this happened. I still feel like the note does not adequately show what happened after the situation, and my attempts to remedy it. Harricross said they didn't believe such an accident was possible, and that I did not do enough to try to fix it.

The note can say whatever it wants. The admin team have never required proof to put the player's side of the story in a note. Every week the team places multiple notes where players say they accidentally did a thing and the admin, lacking any proof of bad faith on the player's part, accepts this.

We'll be overturning this note entirely.

Timberpoes: "This note as written falls foul of the material/factual accuracy test; I think there would be a marked difference between how an admin who knew all the facts would view this vs how an admin who only had the note to go on would view this. Ordinarily I'd just suggest re-writing the note, but with all the context I honestly wouldn't have noted for this in the first place. A lot of effort to fix what was a mistake that turned into a classic RNG SS13 moment with mutagen into spacial instability mutation into HOLY CRAP SHIT SHIT SHIT I HAVE TO FIND THE HOS.

Once I saw logs of them trying hard IC to genuinely undo the mistake, that's just taken it out of note territory for me. That's good faith play off the back of a mistake and is the heart and soul of SS13."

Misdoubtful: "Me personally I wouldn't note for something so minor if someone jumps to correct it but I'm not about to shove that down any throats here"

Kieth: "I'm down for not having notes for things that seem like genuine mistakes TBF... [ I try my best to not note people that try and fix whatever they just did ] - this doesn't seem bad faith at all."

The effective internal discussion tallies to a 3x "would not have placed note for this" and 2x "overturn" from myself and Kieth.

This is not a new precendent saying don't note for players that make mistakes. We just ask admins to look at all the context of the mistake and what, if anything, the player did to try and remedy it.

A player that fucks up but does everything in their power to fix it trends towards being good-faith. At some point a player's independent follow-up actions can make an otherwise notable incident become a simple IC issue that's not worth noting.
