[Lemonlord] Crossing the line from the other side

From the same guy who brings you giant crabs every round comes a ban that's the exact inverse of my last one. Way to go /TG/!

Byond account and character name: Bryce Pax/IcePacks
Banning admin: Lemonlord
Ban type (What are you banned from?): Violence, the game
Ban reason and length: Two One days; "Murdered someone, then gibbed them for RCDing doors. This is unacceptable."
Time ban was placed (including time zone): 23:07:48 server time
Your side of the story: I killed a guy who RCDed almost (he missed one airlock) through the bridge and led me on a chase and threw him at the chef, worrying he might come back in the middle of the huge, actual riot that security was dealing with. At my time of banning there was already one security fatality. I honestly wouldn't be too shocked to find out it was rev or gangs.
Why you think you should be unbanned: This is a stupid ban.

Killing him was perfectly acceptable, but having him gibbed when he wasn't even an antag is not. It's one day, just wait it out.

No. I don't wait out unnecessary bans. This is the poster child of an unnecessary ban.

If Pax was the Captain there is 0 issue with what happened.

"Act like an antag, get treated like one" is in the rules

I was the head of security. Worth noting was that I was actually banned during the rioting.

Security policy precedents 3 and 6 should cover this (Act like an antag, lethal force for mobs of people forcing brig/armoury entry, note that 6 really covers only entry into the brig/armoury although together with 3 this should provide enough justification for the actions). Although imo gibbing them seems over kill, you could've had them borged, or stashed them somewhere until the riot dies down.

There was hardly a riot at all. It was also an extended round.

I was interfered with multiple times trying to apprehend the suspect; the detective had been murdered by a mob and there was radio chatter about stolen weapons and gear.

Stop trying to defend this ban and just remove it. Turn it into a warning if you're desperate to take action over it.

The gibbing sounds questionable, but this ban was also applied somewhat hastily before the extent of these riots was ascertained, and in a chaotic situation this might not necessarily be actionable. What was the name of the lynched detective?

You'd have to check the logs for that round. I didn't pull any myself.

This probably should have been investigated a little more pre-ban, but since a lot of valuable round information goes unlogged if I try to investigate now the ban will probably expire first. A cursory look at the logs indicates mentions of the detective's death, albeit not his name or how he died, and one officer was almost beaten to death, so that does look pretty bad.

Gibbing them does seem excessive, but bad things happen in chaotic situations, just try not to make a habit of it. I'll lift the ban.
