[Saegrimr] Banned for asking about Silicon policy
Posted: Wed Aug 31, 2016 9:08 am
Byond account and character name: NocturnalQuill, Luke Cox
Banning admin: Saegrimr
Ban type (What are you banned from?): Sybil
Ban reason and length: 60 minutes
Time ban was placed (including time zone): ~1:00 AM PDT
Your side of the story: I was a scientist experimenting with freon in the test lab pen. Unbeknownst to me, there was a law stating that anyone who used freon was non-human. A borg decided to spontaneously kill me, and started to drag my body to an airlock. On his way, the laws were changed and I was now human. From what I understand, asimov silicons at the very least can't go out of their way to prevent clonable humans from being cloned. The borg and AI decided to proceed regardless. Admittedly, I was pretty salty about this. I ahelped it, and after 2-3 ahelps with no reply, Saegrimr finally said that it was allowed. This contradicted my understanding of Asimov. I asked in OOC as vaguely as I could (something to the effect of "does Asimov prevent the AI from spacing clonable corpses?). Saegrimr replied in OOC saying that he already answered my ahelp and muted OOC (which was more IC in OOC than anything I ever did). I then posted a thread in policy discussion asking whether the sort of scenario was allowed. I admit that the round was still underway, but I tried to remain as vague as possible to avoid any IC in OOC issues. Soon after, I was banned for 60 minutes for "IC in OOC"
Why you think you should be unbanned: I'm aware that the ban will probably be lifted by the time any other admins read this, but at the very least I want the note removed. I was salty, but I tried to be as respectful while dealing with Saegrimr and I went out of my way to remain as vague as possible when discussing the incident to avoid any possible IC issues (all names, professions, references to the specific round were omitted).
