Community Meetings

Community meetings are here!
We'll be holding one-hour community meetings every two weeks on the /tg/station13 official discord to talk about the server, community issues, or really anything /tg/station related.
The first community meeting will be on December 8th, at 5:00 P.M. EST.

Purpose
The purpose of these community meetings is to give players a way to directly talk to the headmins and admins about issues/concerns in our community.
We'll try to get to as many things addressed as possible during the meeting, time-permitting. This is a chance to voice your biggest concerns directly, so be there!

What will it be like?
One headmin minimum will be present for all community meetings. I'll do my best to attend and lead each meeting, but sometimes things come up so another headmin may take over for the meeting.
All admins are encouraged to attend to give their input/opinions on certain issues.
To maintain order in what will otherwise be a rather chaotic voice chat, all people will start off muted, until they're given a role that enables speaking in the channel.
There will be a text channel to accompany the meeting's voice channel to request the role to speak, to ask questions, etc.

What will the meeting minutes look like?
The first community meeting will be largely freeform. We've never done this sort of thing before, so we'll stick to a few predetermined topics and questions to start off.
After the first meeting, the agenda will be a bit more rigid as we find what works and what doesn't. The meeting's duration will be an hour, but that may change depending on how it goes.

Mass voice chats especially with people who don't have the expectation of acting somewhat civilly to eachother are a generally undesirable thing to be involved in and highly unlikely to be productive.

They're hardly role models, but you could maybe look at how CM does theirs. Where people submit questions which are answered in voice and transcribed. Or maybe that's too much work for you.

So just because something has failed in the past all future attempts should be null?

This headmin team is trying to push accountability forward and it's a good thing, they can at least say they tried to do it unlike previous headmin plans which have ridiculously failed, given up on and ending up with the cycle being nothing but a joke (as last cycle was)

Ignore Sticky he is salty about everything, it's due to the lack of meat he gets.

CM are certainly not role models that we ever want to copy but the way they do community meetings is probably the one thing they are good at.

What's the worst that can happen from trying out an idea again under new parameters even though it wasn't working as well as it could in the past?
At worst you get a few weeks of drama and a reminder that this stuff doesn't work.
At best you've improved staff-player interaction.
Don't see the need to be getting into a fight over this.

the orginal roundtables were good, cheridan read out disgusting degenerate smut with his amazing voice and about fifteen different people tried to argue with goofball at once. In all seriousness though there is nothing really wrong with these meetings as long they are properly moderated, when we did them a few years ago it was a clusterfuck because nobody bothered to mute everyone half the time.

To be clear, I have no problem with roundtables and have always found them entertaining.

But I'm an uppity cunt who saw a chance to shitpost and took it

Thanks for reminding me this was going on Sticky. Depending who you ask, you'd either have done a good or a bad thing.

It's a joke. Any player who wanted to talk could simply ping me and request the role. I gave out the role to speak at several points during the meeting, it just so turned out that most people elected to ask their questions in text rather than in voice.
Ideally, I wouldn't like to have restrictions on speaking, but with ~80 people in the chat it becomes very loud, very fast. It's a necessity.
Also, I'll write a reflection on this meeting tomorrow. I'm a bit tired at the moment.

Not everyone gets feedback.
