In order to do that without disabling the entire better-bbcode extension, i instead had to gimp the bbvideo part of that extension in the code, since it doesn't offer settings to configure the url parsing behavior.

Pasting imgur.com/whatever was automatically embedding the images, MSO didn't like that and removing that meant breaking bbvideo, since they were close together.
