Server Construction - Feature General

terribly misleading title but i didn't bother thinking of a better one.

some bloated context as to what im doing:

had a idea, kind of a shitty one and one that's been proven to be heavily drama filled and filled with unsavory niggers everywhere but here goes

the idea stems from playing on some of the f13 servers, some mistakes we're made, some drama occured, and overall godsring, angelic, mac, and all those other people (including the russians and brazilians [looking at you OCP]) made some mistakes of their own and had a entirely different vision for the project.

what i was thinking, is something like CDDA mixed with fallout mixed with f13 mixed with 7 days to die.

incorperating CDDAs depth eventually (that being a goal) and from my understanding of how byond works (please correct me if im wrong) but adding code, so long as its not in a map (like say adding a zippo but not putting it on any of the maps) doesn't generate any more lag or bloat or longer loading times then anything else since it's not actually in a map and not actually interacting with anything (please correct me if this is horribly wrong)

then taking some shit from fallouts lore and design like power armor/weapons/certain fauna/overall shits fucked yo levels of destruction

then taking assets from f13 (possibly not since the code i have is butchered russian/brazilian/tg/angelic/mapping nightmare cancer

then i don't even know why i put 7 days to die i thought its a good game but you get my point of what im getting at
more or less im going to take /tg/ code and try my hand at making a survival game. probally going to implode on itself, im probally going to give up after trying to figure out how to host it, im probally just going to open up dm, delete all the station maps then get bored and say fuck it and drop the project entirely but atleast a year from now i can look back at this thread and go "hey why don't i try that again"


the entire reason in making this thread is one question

if its not dog shit, if it looks good, if its based off of tg code, would you play it?

SPRITE REQUESTS

I need the following;

Run down wall (weathering/sun chipping away at paint)
Run down metal wall (weather/rust)
Custom wooden floor tiles
Retro/fallout esqe casino tiles
Better (not fucking all white) snow tiles (grey scale ect)
Your own brand of vending machine (need a softdrink one, a snack bar one, and a laptop/tablet vendor one, it CANNOT be in 3/4ths perspective, we're going for a retro feel here so make it the old way) (will happily make it your own in the game ie "Pkportable Microcomputers" or some shit)

SOUND REQUESTS

I need the following:

Ambient kind of snow storm wind blowing sort of shit
A decent door opening sound that isn't fucking creaking super hard (wood and metal doors)
Zippo opening, zippo closing, and zippo burning sound
Fire burning sound (like a campfire, logs cracking ect)
Gun sounds
-putting a magazine in a rifle
-taking a magazine out of a rifle
-clearing a casing from a rifle
-charging a rifle
-aim up/aim down sound (the sound of shuffling from pointing a gun at someone to putting it back down)
-putting a magazine into a pistol (light-think a small handgun like a walther PPK with a thin magazine)
-pulling a magazine out of a pistol (light-think a small handgun like a walther PPK with a thin magazine)
-putting a magazine into a pistol (heavy-think a large handgun like a desert eagle or 1911, big heavy mag hitting against thicc metal)

-a lack of most vitamins will only result in a small debuff, continued lack of them will result in actual sickness though (but that will take excess of four hours)
-the simplicity of /tg/ med but with more shit to fix more shit to varying degrees (makeshift bandage = 5 brute heal/50% to stop bleeding brute kit = 40 brute heal/doesnt stop bleeding quickclot = 2 brute delt/100% chance to stop bleeding)
-make shitty meds either craftable or very common but make them, well. shitty.
-make super meds occur at the end and during mini dungeons and shit
-porting (not porting but making) autoinjectors more common place as medical items
-different ammounts and qualitiys of auto injectors for both shit med and op med
-add more constructables (furniture/wooden walls/different types of wooden barricades)

-add more clutter (nails now come in nail boxes which now come in nail crates, none of which vanish when you take everything out of them, ect ect)

ye survival games aren't really a original idea but i mean like a -entire- server, not a map

basically learn from the mistakes of F13, make it open source, without ERP, and without shitty ported cykablyat code

im just going to take all the tg assets as place holders and build a map (which is the really easy fun part) then go about trying to make half decent wall/floor/tree/door/ect sprites

another thought, most of these servers go with a theme in terms of weather (desert/snow/ect)

i was thinking more of a side by side z level linked map, in game maps would be like grids showing what each grid was, be it a town, fuckhuge desert, or mountain

Axe:

Comes in a leather scabbard that is a back item.

Click on the scabbard to draw the axe then use the axe in your hand to wield it with both hands. Six hits on a tree will take the tree down netting 3-5 logs.

Does 12 brute and has a chance to remove limbs.

Actually an openworld gamemode where you build stuff and survive based on ss13 mechanics/engine would be very fun.
People go crazy for Goof's dwarves because that's basically the only thing we have for it as is (and there's also the meme factor with dorfs)

We should actually develop something like it for real, but that's alot of work and nobody has bothered.

Also, this is not exactly a new idea, basically everyone and their brother has thought of something along those lines before.

planetstation isn't the same as this but it takes up the majority of the purpose as a "new and original planetside map"

that and i plan to add shit that doesn't really mesh well with 30 minute rounds. most rounds played would clock 2-3 hours, then generally midnight to eight would be one whole round

I'm far from a master spriter but you definitely need outlines on those sprites, ask WJ about it.

it orginally had borders, super bold borders, like basically black close to nigger black

but i removed them on the premise that i remember someone saying "hey don't make black outlines on everything"

so i said fuck it and removed the fuck out of them outlines

"don't make black outlines" doesn't mean "don't have outlines"

Generally the outline of any sprite is a darker version of the main colour*
ie: if the gun was light grey, you take that same grey and drop it by 10-20 luminosity (use a real image editor, not DM) and then use the new (10-20 less lum) colour for your outline.

*unless you're doing something really stylistic, which doesn't fit SS13 so it's not relevant.

i have a question for the maintainers
does... survival, using SS13 as an engine, have any chance (of being merged, as a gamemode or map) on: 1. vanilla ss13 2. planetstation
maybe i'm just getting baited but this one of oxford's only good ideas.

edit: its been attempted by f13 but thats fallout. the premise behind this is doing it better.
