We've had this talk before, but looking at a recent PR and recalling many others like it, maybe it's time to talk about this again. We should seriously decide on a firm policy on maintainer conduct. Perhaps maintainers should no longer be able to delete comments, and perhaps some maintainers should lose the rank entirely.

I could have edited their comment to remove the personal attack but It was simply easier to remove the comment, given that the point was already raised.

I'd put it in admin complaints, but we both know that would get shut down even swifter than this one is going to be, because it wouldn't be able to follow the format for obvious reasons, and because "teeechnicaaally they're maintainers, not admins". Maintainers are free to delete posts if they feel a PR is spiraling out of control. I can't see exactly what he deleted but I trust his judgement and reading it just before the purge I saw lots of random anime pictures and shitflinging between leoz and others

Maintainers are free to close PRs they think are negative for the game, at which point you may appeal up the chain of command and the decision can be reversed (which is what happened in this case).

that's not abuse when a pr becomes massive every comment lags it more and more (see dwarves or guncrafting for a good example) so it seems fair to do this. are some comments more valid and less shitposty than others? yes but if you couple your feedback with quirky quips at the maintainer so you can entertain your emoji reaction bros you should be mindful that it just puts your comment out as an attack on someone and not feedback for the pr

have you ever noticed most if not all maintainers who could be considered "leaders" or "well known" are god awful people with toxic personalities who would prefer to spew a meme or some other abstract bullshit than actually address a problem.

not being able to see what someone deleted leaves room for emotional decisions which is bad when there is one person in charge of something. additionally, trusting someones judgement on something you admitted to not knowing specifically is bad and narrow sighted.

by this same logic, if theres four pages of logical and well thought out comments and then i post six comments about bullshit and then theres another eighteen comments after that of logical comments, you therefore must delete all the comments because of what i posted.

making a choice to delete all the comments because some we're bad is bad.

why does a codebase you claim to be absolutely separate from the game have a appealing process for choices maintainers make.

Well, I guess recent events made me slightly more accepting of comment purges, now that I actually witnessed something that I saw as gross derailing, so... I guess that's worth taking into account.

Oranges while I don't see him as a good admin, heis arguably helpful and a good maintainer. Leoz seems just spiteful, constantly angry at everything and just generally unpleasant but nothing will ever change so this thread is useless.

Imagine a maintainer generally opposed to adding snowflakey alien races suddenly wanting to add a snowflakey alien race just cause it's the one that I dislike, following a suggestion by another server's headadmin. Trust me, I never asked for that one.

Also, imagine being so upset with one playermade discord that you start using it to brand everything you don't like.
