$50 bounty: Unique sound when you spawn, depending on your job

This bounty is for a unique sound played when you spawn, depending on your job. Things like a generic sound of machinery/grinding for Roboticists, or the Papers Please stamp sound for the HoP, boiling water / a pilot light for Chemists, an oven timer ding for Chefs, a shaker shake and pour for the Bartender, a hand drill (or some other tool) for Engineers, some Noir music for the Detective, the sound of a jail cell slamming for Security Officers, etc.

These would add a whole lot to immersion. Hopefully you'll be able to find all of these sounds for free use on public repositories. I don't have the coding experience to implement these myself, or the patience to gather all the sounds, but you could probably lift some of the code from the sounds played when you get turned into various antags.

On a side-note, making a transition from the lobby image to your spawn point was something I was also interested in. Nothing fancy, just a black bar coming from the top of the screen and the bottom of the screen to cover the lobby image, then snapping back after ~2 seconds when you spawn in. It would add even more to getting people immersed in the game.

the sound of a jail cell slamming for Security Officers,
this would be great for the Warden. Security officers should have something like a police radio snippet instead, like "10-4" or something. Maybe the HoS gets the sound of jackboots marching or a "Hooah!"?

There's a lot of cool ideas to explore here. What would the assistant sound be? The sound of sneakers squeaking? The curator the sound of flipping through a sheaf of paper? Hissing gasses for Atmos? A heartbeat for medical doctors? A pulse machine for the CMO? What would be a proper sciencey sound for the RD and scientists? The captain?

All great ideas. I'll compile a draft list in the morning of potential sounds for each of the jobs. Assistant, CMO, Scientist, RD, Captain, Geneticist and CE are the jobs I imagine will be most difficult to find sounds for

I'd recommend looking for Cuboos if he's still around, he made some baller sounds in the past

Assistant -
Captain -
Head of Personnel - Paper being stamped
Quartermaster - Cash register ding
Cargo Technician - The sound played by wrapping paper?
Shaft Miner - Pickaxe hitting rock? Brief snippet of ash storm sound?
Bartender - Beer being poured from tap, or a drink mixer being shaken and poured
Cook - An oven timer ding
Botanist - Some wind rushing through grass/trees?
Janitor - The sound of a bin closing
Clown - HONK!
Mime - Nothing
Curator - Pages being flipped through, or a book being laid on the table
Lawyer - A gavel hitting wood. We already have the sounds for this available to lawyers
Chaplain - Something generic and holy. Hallelujah would work but might be too noisey
Chief Engineer -
Station Engineer - A hand drill
Atmospheric Technician - Gas leaking out of a pipe
Chief Medical Officer -
Medical Doctor - Beep, beep, beeeeeeep.
Chemist - Liquid boiling, or a pilot light / bunsen burner
Geneticist -
Virologist - Monkey screech (could be swapped with genetics)
Research Director - Xeno hiss?
Scientist -
Roboticist - Metal grinding
Head of Security - 2-3 heavy marching footsteps or a Hooah! (thanks Yakumo)
Warden - Jail cell door slamming
Detective - A snippet of noir music
Security Officer - A snippet of senseless radio chatter, or a brief siren of the sort used to indicate you should pull over
AI - A snippet of the dial-up sound?

Using a free of copyright sound library. I think this sound of a computer booting up, and the first 5-6 seconds it: Which has its own fade out. Would be a very good fit for the Ai bootup.

Captain could literally have like a generic tiny anthem fanfare, or an eagle caw.

And of course, assistant sounds could be selected from a small collection mundane, if not slightly unpleasant effects. Yawning/snoring, sneakers skulking through maintenance as water drips echo, the opening of a soda followed by slurps and a refreshed sigh, the grunts of a guy stretching with toilet flushing in the background. Anything to hint at the fact that assistants are not as helpful as their job title would suggest.

The assistant noise should be a 10 minute clip of a sovereign citizen screaming legal non-sense at a cop before getting beaten and arrested.

Also just so it's crystal clear.

When you are looking to fufil a bounty, it is 100% on you to confirm in writing that the person who offered it is interested in paying you the amount, before you start any development work.

I would strongly advise against starting development on something without speaking to the person after your offer to help.
